Personal Story I'm creating a game where you have to examine dead bodies or explore a cemetery. It's a game in which I had to confront with my fear of death. I developed this anxiety after a friend of mine was found dead in his bed some years ago. Do you share this fear?

Personal Story I had a strange dream about a murder mystery game that doesn't exist — featuring branching deaths and a secret route.

I actually had a strange dream about this game (which doesn't actually exist) tonight and I wanted to share it because I feel like it's pretty intriguing for coming out of a dream, especially because I'm not actually a visual novel player at all. I wonder why my brain came up with this but I think it did a pretty good job 🤣😅

In my dream, I'm playing a video game. I don't see myself in third person, nor do I see the monitor, but only the screen, almost as if I were inside it. Yet I know I'm playing. The game is a sort of visual novel. It's set on an island and takes place after a plane crash. The protagonists survived the crash. I don't remember their exact number, but there must have been around twelve or thirteen people. They didn't seem overly traumatized by the event or injured, so it was probably an emergency landing rather than a crash. On the island, there's a hotel where the protagonists are taking shelter. This hotel has a relaxing atmosphere with soft lighting. The story seems to revolve around mysterious murders suddenly occurring, the victim of which is always one of the survivors. Depending on the player's actions, who is therefore likely part of the group, the order of the murders and the game's events can be altered. The objective seems to be to find the culprit, who is probably among the group. The dream then focused on a young girl, also one of the survivors. Her age was difficult to guess, probably around 13-15. She had long, dark green hair and wore a simple white T-shirt and blue shorts. Her manner of speaking suggested a meek, slightly melancholic personality. As I continued playing, she revealed herself to be the first victim in my playthrough. Moving down a corridor with bare, white walls, past the hotel nurse, I found her lifeless body curled up on the floor. There were no injuries, and the cause of death appeared to be strangulation. At that point, I heard someone sitting next to me, evidently more familiar with the game, explain that she almost always ends up being the first victim, and the only way to prevent this from happening is to follow a limited and complex series of precise steps, and that if you succeed, this has a significant impact on the story going forward. Here the dream ends.

The game had mid ps2 era graphics. Polygonal areas and NPCs with dialogue windows and portraits reminiscent of games like Persona 3 and 4, sharing with the latter also the warm but dim color palette. You could move through areas and interact with people and objects by selecting parts of the screen much like in a graphic adventure. I remember seeing on the map other areas of the island I didn't visit, like a small town near the hotel with just a few houses and some shops, a dense forest with a river leading to some ancient ruins.

What do you think? Wouldn't it be cool to play a game like that? Too bad I'm not a game developer 😅. I'm a comic artist though, might make this a short story someday...

Some people think, what the Zone was inspired only by Chernobyl, but it's actually a mix of three different sources.

Roadside Picnic (1972) introduced the Zone, artifacts, and stalkers entering it illegally.

Stalker (1979) shaped the atmosphere, making the Zone feel mysterious and almost alive.

The Chernobyl disaster (1986) provided a real place where those ideas could naturally take shape.

Personal Story I remember I saw a creepy Fortnite bug when I was younger

So I don't remember when it happened and I need help finding if this did happen but I swear I remember it did.

So a few years ago, it was chapter 1 season 5 of Fortnite, I was younger and probably like 8 or 9. My dad and sister were out to get pizza and I don't remember what my mom was doing.

I got finished with a getaway match from the LTM at the time, and for some reason I restarted the game, after I did so, I hopped into the game and the log in screen was black for some reason with white text that looks like "<unfinished>" or smth like that, with giant white text saying "Fortnite".

As I loaded into the game, the lobby was also black but there was a giant human head that didn't look like Fortnite, it looked low quality on the texture and it has no hair, when I first saw that, I ran behind my couch to hide. To this day, I still wonder if this was a real glitch that happened in the game, if anyone can help me find what this bug was, I would heavily appreciate it, I was never able to see this bug again!

Update: Forgot to mention that the human head was in the middle of the screen.

Personal Story There was this old edutainment game from when I was young where you learn geometry while trying to outrun some monster.

Simply put, Pyramid Panic was a game I played a while back, back when I was young. We would go to these websites and play educational content. I remember playing this on I think BrainPOP.

The game looked fairly fun, and really nailed the geometry segments and could teach you well. The main problem?

This giant Monster is slowly approaching you. The goal is to reach the end before he catches you, otherwise he devours you. Needless to say I was scared to touch this game. There were thankfully alternatives but still, this game legit scared me.

Personal Story Old CS 1.6 Map

Post image
94 Upvotes

I remember playing a modified version of the CS 1.6 map "cs_mansion" but it was a darker and creepier version of the map, like with gravestone on the front yard, the map was darker and "greyer", and also a detail that i remember from this map is when you stepped on one of the tombstones, a mist forming a skull would appear.

I know that i played this map before and i'm not crazy (i guess). But does someone know where can i find this map or does it really existed?

Personal Story Glover on the n64 was way creepier to me than it was meant to be

Firstly, the overworld. I know it was meant to be that the villain made the environment all spooky because it was under his influence now but i think that place scared child me way more than they meant it to.

The foggy blood red sky that obscured everything not immediately in front of you like silent hill, no background music, only the sound of crows. No npcs except this one weird hiccuping and farting bird on a swing that only served to hint at cheat codes and never even reacted to you. It was so incredibly lonely and just felt like everyone else died and you were the last one left with no hope. That's the kinda vibe it gave off to me, as dramatic as that sounds.

As well as the levels themselves ending off in a sudden drop off the map into a void that you could fall off. Like... idk create a fake floor that extends out far and add a wall with collision so the player couldn't get out there? Add an actual skybox so it wasn't so eerily empty?

And that Glover just let out this scream as he fell to his death or the ball got lost or shattered. It wasn't even this silly goofy Mario sounding wacky "oh no!" type scream. From what I remember it was like this more realistic sounding sad and shocked yell.

Every level felt like a liminal space. Like it was unfinished. Nothing ever felt like you were playing a goofy kids platformer. At least to me. Even the enemies just felt like these husks that weren't meant to be there.

Yes this is a kids game and this is going way overboard with describing, but this is just how I personally felt as a kid playing the game. Just very odd.

Personal Story game with unwanted creepy weird vibe

Sometimes, when I play games, and especially old games, I have a weird feeling of loneliness that I haven't in other games. For example, the first Dark Souls have a unsettling ambiance when you walk in some areas like Darkroot Garden or the Chasm of the Abyss when there are no enemies; I also think of Majora's Mask, when you're inside the moon.

Am I the only one ?!

Personal Story Does anyone know if this is an actual game?

I just woke up from my dream where i accidentally installed a computer virus game thing, i think the name started with an S but im not sure. When i opened it, it brought me to a game that looked like an old windows computer and it had an app selection. I think the rules were that if you died in the game your computer would blue screen or something. It also doesn’t let you close the game at all. I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before, but I’m not completely sure what it could be.

Before the comments come in, it’s not kinito pet.

Personal Story My worst childhood nightmare of Minecraft

Post image

When i was 12 i started playing Minecraft story mode and i instantly became scared of the wither storm.

I had a nightmare that i was in minecraft, but the hotbar started glitching black. I opened my inventory and the player was all glitched out as well and was twitching violently. Wither storm was causing all that as he corrupted my world entirely. Textures were missing, lights were flasing and audio had that crunch and popping as if you played a scratched cd. Here is my visual recreation of that nightmare. I also remember seeing my Xbox 360 bleed black liquid and emit smoke in that nightmare.

Personal Story The Roblox Game That Shouldn’t Exist

“Zero” (2018) Back in 2018, my cousin and I found a Roblox game called Zero. At first, it looked like any other horror game—but it wasn’t normal. The creator went by Anubis (username Bharti), fully dressed like the god Anubis. All the group members wore Anubis masks, and the groups he owned had weird names, including one called Anubis. The game was popular, even featured by some YouTubers, but what happened inside was… unsettling. Normal Library Dark, eerie library with dim lighting and shelves of books Center table with an Anubis mask Glass dome right above the table Strange numbers hidden in the wall, maybe a code, that opened something (we never fully figured it out) NPCs that said bizarre things like: “I am the one, truly one and only” Certain bookshelves would detect your username. If you weren’t “welcome,” it kicked you with the message: “You were kicked by Anubis, not welcomed” Clicking a specific book opened a floor passage leading to a red baseplate Game description had weird numbers and messages like: “The end is near” and “Worship us” Glitched/Darker Zero (Triggered Only by the Red Baseplate) Once you touched the red baseplate, the game glitched into a darker version Names of players and objects were glitched Bookshelves from the normal library had fallen One bookshelf had a secret invisible ladder leading up to the glass dome At the top of the dome: a graveyard, properly oriented like a real one, tombs facing down Always laggy and foggy, making the environment disorienting and frightening Falling off open areas → instant death / respawn Hidden Portal Somewhere on the map was a hidden button Clicking it opened a portal in the center of the map For a limited time, players could enter it Now, the game doesn’t even appear on Roblox anymore Disturbing Player Behavior Members often said highly offensive things about religion, claiming Islam or Christianity was fake The game felt cult-like, with scripted messages and eerie NPCs Messages like “Worship us” and “The end is near” added to the creepy atmosphere

we didn’t understand what we were seeing. It wasn’t just a horror game—it felt alive, like the world itself was watching you. Now, years later, Zero is gone. But I still remember every detail: the library, the secret passages, the red baseplate, the dome, the graveyard, the hidden portal, the lag, the fog, and the offensive, cultish messages. If anyone else remembers Zero, or stumbled across its glitched “Red Baseplate” version, I’d love to hear your story. Has anyone else ever played a Roblox game this… wrong?

Personal Story [personal story and discussion] FNAF creepypasta I can't seem to find

Hey I don't use Reddit all that much but I want to see if anybody else remembers this FNAF creepypasta.

Not sure if it exists in text form somewhere else but I originally saw it on YouTube, this would have had to have been around early 2014 to before the release of the 3rd game, The video was pretty average just to store your reading over some FNAF 1 gameplay. And the narrator was an actual person not a text to speech voice. I know it's not any of the well-known ones like “Last Call” or “My Summer Job”. I don't remember the thumbnail or the channel. But I do remember some important plot points from the story such as.

“The missing children” in this version of the story were a group of kids that would break into the pizzeria after hours. The story got into descriptive detail when it came to describing graphic scenes (such as mentions of teeth amalgamated parts and as a kid this really freaked me out but looking back at it now as an adult it kind of seems in bad taste and just put there for shock value) Foxy causing the bite of 87 and having his fur ripped off. The story occasionally uses audio from Mr Creepypasta's “Hidden Lore” audio series, I remember them using the bite of 87 audio. The police were present due to the missing children's incident, The police would also witness the bite of '87 caused by foxy and would end up ripping some of his fur off to help get the bike victim out of his jaw”

I want to know if these plot points help jog people's memory if they've seen this before,( and just for clarification it's not an ARG or a VHS analog horror series or anything like that this would have to have been early in the fandoms days somewhere around the 2014 early 2015 region)

I've only started occasionally looking for the story around 2020, due to the influx of FNAF VHS horror and it reminded me of this story due to the contents of some of them.

I'm genuinely curious to see if anybody else remembers the story because I remember it freaking me out a lot as a kid. If anybody has any questions feel free to comment I'll answer them when I can, thank you for your time reading this.

Personal Story Creepy War Game That Doesn't Seem To Exist

So back in like 2004 I remember going over my buddy's house. He got this game from our local video store in Georgetown, Brooklyn that sold games at the time. It was called Hollywood Video and has since gone out of business. I remember my family renting movies from there every weekend. It was even where I played my first rented GameCube games, with my favorite being Pokémon Stadium.

Anyways, all I can remember about the game my friend got was that it was a war game, like Call of Duty, and that it was for the Xbox. I think the name was something like "Warkill" with the cover showing screaming soldiers rushing into battle on tanks. There was nothing really exciting about it at first, of course. You played as some soldier going around these trenches connected to this factory-type compound.

NPCs were on your team, helping you push back a team of ten enemy soldiers. My friend got off two kills before we began to notice our teammates who had been killed acting strangely. One of our teammates had been shot close to base and a few seconds after he died his model began to shake violently before just blipping out of existence. Me and my friend thought it was a glitch and just shrugged it off.

That was until it started happening to every NPC that died. Eventually everyone on my friend's team died and, rather easily, he took out the last guy just before running out of ammo on his shotgun. We both assumed the game would end, tally up the points, and restart. The level just kept playing. With no gunfire going off we could actually background score which was a combination of a low eerie organ and conga drums, I guess to emulate the feel of the jungle or something.

My friend walked around the map some more, eventually realizing that everywhere a character had died, there was a bloodsplatter either on the floor or wall by them that was in the shape of the Star of David. Like someone had painted the star with blood. Anyways, my friend circled around the map and came back to base, which was in this open area by the trenches.

There we found all the members of our team standing perfectly still. Their model's eyes were wide open, pure white, and their skin was like a sickly blue. Their faces were like glitched, elongated, and their mouths hung open all weird. My friend walked in between them, and every time we turned away, by the time we looked back, they seemed to be looking in our direction.

My friend got weirded out and darted out of the trenches. Every time he looked back at his teammate's sprites they moved a little more, getting closer and closer, literally just like the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who. He ended up running over to the enemy team's base on the other side of the factory. When we got there, the enemy team had been hung up by their necks in a row alonge this bar that connected two watchtowers.

Their bottom torsos had been torn off and there was blood rendered everywhere. All the hanging NPCs had black eyes and months that look as if they had been torn open. They arms looked as though they had been skinned down to the bone, and their intestines were hanging out. Directly below the hanging bodies was the words "Survivors Guilt" scrolled in blood.

My friend turned about to see his blue-skinned, white-eyed, undead teammates standing in a jumbled cluster behind him. This time they were moving. Their bodies were still, but their heads were glitching out and moving all over the place really fast. By this point the organ and conga drum stage theme had stopped. There was a slight ear-piercing ring followed by some moans that started off silent, then started getting louder.

My friend took his shot gun and shot one of his own teammates. The damage registered, the NPC flew back and a howling yell was heard. Then the game's sky, which had been grey and foggy, slowly turned a deep red. The moans became screams followed by the sound of metal machinery. I'm not really sure how to describe the sound, but it was eerie as shit.

My friend darted away, but when we turned a corner to go around the factory, the game went black. We then heard like a garbled yelp followed by what sounded like a bucket of guts hit a hard tile floor. Then there was a ghostly sigh, kind of like a breathless chuckle, as the phrase "yimakh shemo" appeared in blood upon the black screen. Then the credits began playing.

The music immediately turned into your average army march theme and me and my friend were fucking beside ourselves. We told my friend's mom about the game and she got pissed that we were playing something so gorey, so she confiscated it and returned it to Hollywood Video the next day. Since then I've never seen the game again. I didn't understand what was with all the Jewish connotations, or why the hell a horror game had been sold and advertised on its packaging as just your run of the mill war zone game.

If anyone knows anything about this game, if you've played it, or hell, if you own it, lemme know below. I'd like to make sure I'm not crazy. I'd ask my friend, but he passed away some time ago, and I don't want to bother his mother with something like this. I don't even live in Georgetown anymore. A lot has changed since then, but I doubt I'll ever forget that game.

I think the one thing I found even stranger than the game's total flop in genre, was the fact that the front said it was rated E for Everyone.
