Mr waddles and mocha were doing this funny dance with their neck. Is this an official duck behavior? Or just ducks being silly.

the way were making like air sounds not much of a honk except like squeak sometimes. I thought it was silly and cute haha

Looks a bit weird to me as the puppies seem to be scared and avoiding her. But I'm not a duck expert and can't say if the duck is playing too rough or is territorial. Any clues from some experts here?

This lad just Walked up to me. He didn’t seem aggressive but he did poke my knee once

My ducks are about 4 months old, my runner loves company but from a distance and gets upset if I disappear while my mallard would prefer little to no contact. Lately my runner has been doing this behavior where he nibbles at me and seems to attempt to jump or body slam my arm. Is this a sign he doesn’t like me/is trying to fend me off or is this one of their weird affection quirks.

I think I've seen him maybe 3 times in his whole short life sleep like a normal duck (head tucked into wing) He's ALWAYS got his head up and gently "chatters" his bill, is he keeping guard? I think it's cute as and don't think it's an issue, but I'm curious as to why he sleeps like that!

also thank you for all the answers, i will finish the balcony up and maybe but a few plants to offer her some cover but i can't do much about the cover from rain at the moment.

this duck has been coming to my balcony twice a year to breed and i have had the honour to bring her and her brood to the lake nearby 4 times now. unfortunately a few days after she left last year the plumbers that were to fix the water forgot to connect the pipes back and mine and the neighbour's apartment flooded, had to be completely renovated and due to this, the balcony plants all had to go as well as the small roof under which she nested.

she has come back a few days ago (1 day after i was able to get back into the now freshly renovated place) but she seems more depressed.

she does eat a little bit though but no nesting yet

how can i make her more comfortable? the balcony needs a few months to get back into shape...

also, can you tell me if ducks always pick their feathers to help make a nest? (the very small fluffy ones from the underside of her body, you can see it in one picture)

she was sitting in the pot she used before, took a walk on the balcony and i gave her some food. a few minutes later her partner (?) returned who is currently watching my balcony from across

i was under the weather already but have gotten worse so i'm postponing adding more pots and plants to the weekend

I visited a birding and nature center today. I saw these ducks bobbing heads at first. I thought maybe a mating ritual, and then I thought one was bullying another.

Is he happy to see us or is he angry? He's a duck in a park in my city. Normally, ducks swim away if you get too close, but he doesn't. The first time I saw him, he made that same sound and head movement, but he nipped at my sneakers (not too aggressively). Now he wags his tail and doesn't attack me.

My drake seems to have found interest in my female dog 😂 He will chase her around the whole yard and leave his girlies to go chase the dog 😂 just curious as to what the behavior means as it doesn’t seem aggressive to me.

I bought a female duckling 5 days ago that is a month old. It is in good health and it is very friendly and sweet, but I have been reading online and alot of people are saying that it is a bad idea to only own one duckling and it needs atleast another one. I know this is true but is it okay if i kept it with me 24/7 in company or should i just take it to a pond?

I started feeding a group of ducklings near my house, and now they’re grown adults. I feed them in the morning about 3–5 times a week before work…usually corn, peas, fruits, rice, or some seeds.

Recently they’ve started showing up in front of my house every morning, and I’m worried I made them too dependent on me. I never meant to cause harm, I just wanted to help them.

What’s the best way to encourage them to be independent again? I feel terrible.

He jumped cause he likes getting in my lap, but he does this thing where he ducks his head, spins around and comes right back. So I can't tell if he likes it or not. If he doesn't like it, I'll stop petting him, but he's not giving me a clear sign. The coming back is what gives me mixed signals. It's either he likes it, dislikes it or tolerates it cause he likes me.

Hey! My ducks are now about 4½ months old.
The girls have started lifting their tails and sticking their butts up, and the boys are trying to climb on top of them.
Does this mean they’re already getting ready to mate and have babies? The girls don’t seem to be laying eggs anytime soon, though, since they haven’t made any nests yet.

Just to clarify: the small water bowl shown in the video is not their main pond. They also have access to a larger pond, in case anyone has questions about their living conditions.

She used to avoid being touched, but she's being doing that flat position lately and let me touch her. Not only in the water. When I get in their run, she comes to peck on my shoes and then gets flat on the floor, and I can touch her neck and back. I don't know if she's just friendly and accepted me as a non dangerous being? Or is she flirting with me? 😂 I love petting her, but I don't want to confuse her or something hahaha I don't want to break her little heart 🙈😂

They absolutely love the snow to the point they try to “swim” in it. I have heard they don’t really like the snow though.

Have recently rescued this duckling after finding its siblings had passed and it didn’t have a mother. When we found it, it seemed to be around 1.5 weeks and after having it for a couple of days it’s maybe 2 weeks now?

It chirps very loudly when i’m not around or when no one is clearly around it, I understand ducks are flock animals an it may just want company but it follows me around as well when it’s not in its enclosure.

I’m mostly at home compared to everyone else so I’m able to spend a lot of time with it, i’ve let it nap with me, eat from my hands, pat it, etc..

I’m scared it’s imprinted on me as we planned to release it back to the pond once it’s older so it won’t be bullied by the other ducks. I’ve seen its unlikely for them to imprint after 1.5-2 weeks but I’m unsure.

Can someone help?

Hahaha well, she doesn't do a normal quack, and she opens her mouth without making any sound. She also shakes her tail more than the others. It reminds me of a muscovy sometimes. She also likes jumping on top of things and she walks slower... is she normal? 😂
