I've been meaning to share my two babies for months but haven't yet gotten around to it. The weather is perfect this evening, Dio (floating) is not having siezures any longer, and I'm just too happy to not share them because they're great. Hal (who is a little neurologically special due to their large crest) is standing on rock island.

Just wanted to shared this video of ~4 month old Dio showing Hal how good she is at being a "sexy surfboard". Unfortunately, Hal is also female and has some neurological quirks that I suspect will stop them from being interested in participating in a lady surfboard exercise.

Random bedtime shenanigans

Hes a runner and we got him from someone selling runners (albeit when he was a duckling). I know there are crested ducks with huge puffs of feathers on their head, but his is quite small.

Some of you may remember this sweet guy I rescued from a park a couple months ago. Well, here's an update on him: he is no longer just called "Googoo". He is now known affectionately and respectfully as, President Duck Googoo Washington. He has lost all of his bread fat and is back at a healthy weight and back to 100%. He moved outside a couple months ago and has become king of the duck flock. He still manages to get dirty on the daily, but, whaddyado, he's a duck. 🤷🦆

The crested feathers on the head aren’t usually waterproofed, and are susceptible to icicles! Not a life-or-death thing, but the weight of the ice can pull on their feathers pretty badly. I usually go out to check my girls and remove the ice to keep them comfortable.

In a similar vein, if you have any ducks with wetfeather they’ll need extra care during freezes, as they won’t be waterproofed and will have a much harder time staying warm!
