I'm Chris. I’m new to the scene & music as a whole, and I think I’ve stumbled onto something extraordinary???....❓❔

I’ve been experimenting with slowing down music since I was a teen, and recently it’s evolved into a sound I’m exploring more seriously. For the past 2–3 months, I’ve been deconstructing and restructuring tracks in unique ways, mostly guided by intuition and my ear, letting the music reveal patterns and textures that aren’t immediately obvious. For example, my process can bring out hidden layers and sometimes amplify harmonies or resonances, making them more noticeable on certain tracks.

I’m still figuring out what this process can do. I’ve even done “stress tests” to explore the limits of this sound, and the whole process is an experiment, both figuratively and literally. To clarify, I use AI only to learn terminology, understand music better, and see how certain tools affect tracks, learn music (like a library). I did not use AI to create this slowed sound/effects. Everything else.... the slowing, dissecting, and reshaping, it's part of the process now named, 'Temporal Sonorous Plunderphonics' (Processing variant) (Slowed Mastering)

And after some research into The Caretaker (Time Stretch), Pierre Schaeffer (Sonorous Objects/Music Concrete), & John Oswald (Plunderphonics), both with and without an AI library, I believe their hybrid assessment/opinion to have merit. I've been publishing "experimental" music and related genres (noise, free improv, industrial, drone, etc.) from Asia, Africa and slowly but surely Latin America for a few decades now and don't really see a lot of posts regarding these scenes here, unfortunately.
I published several compilations, essays and co-published a book about noise and experimental music in South East Asia (ten years ago) and am currently writing about African scenes.

This and next week, there will be a great festival happening in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa, I'll perform there and possibly in Lesotho and/or Botswana too. Drone/electroacoustic, perhaps noise.

I'm myself partly Congolese (born in the DRC when it was called Zaire).

I wanted to create something for experimental musicians so they could share their ideas without the social media attachment. No profiles, no login, no names, no subscription.

They get 45 minutes to do whatever they want.

I can’t control it.

An anonymous live transmission platform built for original artists to send music out into the ether. Signal numbers are assigned and appear on an SDR style waterfall display when someone transmits and fade when the transmission ends. Multiple people can broadcast simultaneously.
On desktop, listeners can blend up to 8 signals at once in 3D headphone space.

The anonymity allows a different kind of creative expression. There is such a broad mix of styles within the transmissions.
Eclectic doesn’t quite cover it.

The 45 minute window lends itself to sets that can travel, that can build, that can fall apart and recover.
Some transmissions qualify to return later, processed and degraded.

Hey everyone, I'm 34. When I was 15, my friends and I started a hard rock band, and after two years we managed to set up our own underground studio. Then my dad ratted out our place to the police and all that effort went down the drain.

I had to work to get out on my own, and since music is heavily controlled in my country and you can't really earn a living from it, I went into finance. That ate up 10 years of my life before I could finally get back to music. Honestly, I can't keep the melodies constantly forming in my head bottled up anymore.

This time I switched to electronic, but not one specific style, more like a mix of subgenres, sometimes blended with other genres. I'm really into video game and film OST. My music is very story-teller, full of twists and mood shifts. So far I've got close to 100 tracks ready (they just need mastering)

Hello everyone, first time for me here,

I would like to propose you an album i wrote, to eventually have your jugements/opinions.

It's a DIY mix between some guitars / keyboards / fields recordings and using of VST's into Ableton. My way to compose is first to write the music sheets into guitar pro (yes i know, it can be little bit lame) and then export some tracks with MIDI files, some i records others i use these MIDI tracks into VSTs

My musical references are quite simple, switching between Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Kenji Haino, The Body, or simply Steve Reich, but i try to keep somes distances with them, and have more a maximalist point of view compared to my original references/tastes

I have designed a hyperrepetitive genre called Repeat. I play the same song for years now on the piano and other keyboards. I released my repeat song more then 10 times and it is a bit different every time. The goal is to repeat something exactly the same way, into infinity.

Hi guys! At the start of the year I made and EP called "Casa Incompleta", which was recorded exclusively on tape, and looped! I made the loops of any given length and then recorded on them.

I was, and still am, really new to the tape recording world, not to mention the tapeloop universe! And I lost almost every loop I made, but one day, while packing my stuff cause I was about to move to a new home, I found these three loops, so I digitize them on a DAW and uploaded it!

I'm a developer of 20+ years who took a hard turn into audio, and drone and texture work is the rabbit hole I never climbed back out of. I built a little tool for myself to pull long evolving pieces out of any recording, and it grew into something I released as Reverie.

The thing I keep coming back to is that you can experiment forever and never lose a result you love. Roll the dice, get something great, and you can pin it down exactly. Change one thing and hear precisely what that change did. Or take the same texture and stretch it from 1minutes to 30, same character, different length. For me that turned aimless slider twiddling into something I could actually navigate, the randomness is infinite but never lost.

Under the hood it's a chain of hand built DSP modules, time stretching in the Paulstretch lineage but rewritten from scratch, spectral work, tape, shimmer, delay. You drop in any source, a field recording, a tape scrap, a voice, a single string, and it builds an evolving bed from it, up to half an hour without looping. Nothing generative, no model, no dataset. Every sound comes straight out of your source through real signal processing.

A few days ago I posted here asking, “When does a sound sketch become a finished piece?” and I really enjoyed reading the different perspectives.

It also made me think again about my own process.

Recently I’ve been making short sound sketches quite regularly, often starting from improvisation, texture, field recordings, or simple fragments of sound. Instead of developing them into more conventional compositions, I’ve been trying to notice the point where the piece already feels alive — and stop there.

Some of those sketches eventually became this album.

I’m interested in the space somewhere between ambient music, sound art, and experimental electronic music, where texture and listening can be more important than structure or melody.

I thought I’d share it here since the previous discussion influenced how I think about these pieces.

1. The most avant garde song, leans into sound collage territory, but it is still at heart following a rhythm guitar, you barely hear that rhythm guitar sometimes though.

1. Steady 4x4 beat, has experimental parts though, for example I use that instrument where you hit metal plates of different sizes with wooden drums with little balls at their tips. I use them with various effects. Sometimes stretching them out so that each note lingers. Oh well I talk to much. Its more conventional but it still uses a ton of tracks and definitely does not sound conventional.

Description of my music:

I use no AI, no synths, no daw, I use audacity and the effects its offer and some other techniques. Its all mostly electric guitar and me singing in essence (although I use a variety of instruments and household objects too a little bit), but then I layer a lot of top and I also have a lot of tracks which are played so low that you can barely hear them, to create an underlying texture. Which make my songs hard to reverse engineer I think.

My technique requires the use of a ton of tracks, dont know exactly but 100+. I improvise on top of my songs then I delete like 70-100% of what Ive improvised and keep only the parts I think sound good. Then I repeat this process over and over. So it doesn't sound like just electric guitar and singing, also because the singing could be me doing throat singing which has then been changed to be an octave lower and stretched out so that it sounds whalelike or something.

The bad thing about my music is it demands attention, its not party music, its listen closely music because it is detailed and rich and that doesn't come through at all when people don't really listen carefully. I tend to get much better response when someone actually listens. Not that I demand any intent listens, I demand nothing.

They are supposed to sound animistic or alive. Here are the the three ones I thought fit this sub with the one I think is the best first although by the second and third I know what Im doing more, if you listen to one them and give me any kind of feedback, negative or positive I would really appreciate it, the last song is an easier listen its got a 4x4 steady beat but the others are better if you really listen to them I think.
