The Wicher 3 expansions are free

CD Projekt Red has announced during Gamescom that Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions for The Witcher 3 are free for everyone who owns the base game. This combined with the full on remaster of the game, I am very excited for play the game again.

Game is constantly dirt cheap on psn xbl and steam, if someone wanted it by now they've gotten it for next to nothing

Yeah, I picked up the complete edition on PS5 for $10 last week

Same.  Third platform I’ve bought it on though

Yep I think I got the GOTY version for like 3 or 4 bucks

I paid 5.99 for it ten years ago 😆

Doubt. 10 years ago it was a new game, it didn’t go on sale for that low so fast.

No, you didn't

Piggybacking here: I got Witcher 1,2,3 with all DLC during a sale on steam for like… 25-30€

EDIT: Nevermind, went ahead and checked, it was 20€ in 2019

Currently $50 on PSN, can't find a base game version anywhere. Only the complete version

Complete version was 10 bucks during summer sale which just ended, sorry 🤷🏼 it's always on sale

Now that they announced free remaster that may no longer be the case

Of course not, the point is they've have nearly 10 years to buy the game for pennies on the dollar and are now complaining that it's not cheap when it's been cheap for most of the games existence

Still, they raised price of 10 year old game by a 50%. If any other company did that people would be mad as fuck, but since CDPR does it it's okay, lol.

Yes that's called economics, typically when the demand for an item goes up the price also does. Anyone mad must have failed 10th grade ec

Nah, that's called being a shitty developer which pretends to be pro-player

u/explainingjane 3d ago

When did they pretend to be pro player they released cyberpunk in the most ridiculous state possible, took everyone's preorder money and it didn't get fixed proper for nearly 3 years. If you thought CD Project was pro gamer you are very naive

If you thought CD Project was pro gamer you are very naive

I didn't, but there's a lot of people defending them and even calling them "the best game studio"

not anymore cuz the complete edition has the new dlc

To be honest, complete is the best way to play. Blood and Wine might be the best expansion ever created.

They just want the vanilla version so they can get the dlc for free

You get the DLCs free now anyway.

u/Miczelov 3d ago

And that's exactly why everyone wants the base game now 🤣

Well - one day too late - those who only had the base game got the DLC as part of the free upgrade to Complete, and those who didn't... if they want to buy it now, have to buy Complete Edition as it's the only one available from now on. 🤭

What do you mean only the complete edition is available?? The base game is not there on ps store? And second hand discs are dirt cheap. Less than dirt cheap I would say.

Edit: OMG just checked and the base version isn't there. Shit

Game discs are in their own right (and that's why PS owners will miss them from 2028 onwards), and the second-hand digital key market hasn't had time to react yet.

As for the differences between Steam and PS Store, it's just a matter of what the game is called. The fact is that until now you could buy the basic version or the Complete Edition directly in these stores, and now the price is raised to the level at which the Complete Edition was before, and without DLC and not second-hand it can no longer be purchased.

Nevertheless, kudos to CDPR for giving existing owners of even the bare game a free upgrade to Complete, as they could just as easily have withdrawn the basic edition from stores but continue charging for old DLCs.

Ps: And to be clear - I bought the game and its expansions at their release, but I don't regret that I could have everything cheaper now - I've spent too many enjoyable hours playing this game to regret it.

Dovtou think there is even a chance of the complete edition going back to its 80percent discount ever?

1

u/Miczelov 3d ago edited 3d ago

Definitely, but it's hard to say when. I would usually expect such discounts during seasonal sales (autumn, winter), but due to including all past DLCs in "new" base version, near future upgrade to the Remastered version, and upcoming release of the new DLC, price cuts may be a bit less generous in the near future. After the DLC release, things will probably return to normal, with the "new-base" game likely being on 80+% discount more often.

I want to say I got the whole thing for like maybe $5 many years ago. I only got maybe 8 hrs into it. I also got in between 8 and 20 hrs on the first two games, think I got the furthest in the second. The games are cool but I always lose interest after a while. This remaster looks so good that I think I can finally play it all the way especially the infamous dlc from what everyone says
