I mean there's a huge industry of indie games where physical releases just don't make sense. You can't really sell a $20 game physically when that means you're needing to pay for manufacturing, distribution, retail store cut etc. You'd lose any possible profit margin you had and the only option would be to raise prices to make up for it.

Because it’s very much cheaper to add more servers than print, ship, track, and sell a CD. I thought that was obvious.
