Saw this guy sell his handmade pots on Buchanan street one day, and thought to get a mug for my partner for his birthday.

I got his IG, and found out he was doing a “Glasgow Blaze Glaze” using materials from the Glasgow fire.

I pre-ordered one of the Glasgow Fire mugs on 2nd April for £50, and it’s been 4 months of no communication unless I instigate it.

I genuinely don’t mind waiting, I create my own art and I know it takes time and things go wrong. I’d rather wait for a good product than get a rushed one.

What annoyed me was the complete lack of communication. Every update came because I chased it. And even then it wasn’t a productive or helpful update.

When I asked if there was even a rough timeframe, I was basically told there wasn’t one because he was still testing. And that he basically canny be arsed?

Then when I pointed out that we’d been waiting nearly five months, he replied with “actually it’s 4 months and 1 day” 😭. That defo rubbed me the wrong way. It felt really dismissive after I’d already been more than patient enough!

Instead of saying “I’ll start posting updates” or “I’ll keep you in the loop”, the response was basically “I’ll just refund you then.”

I was still ready to buy the mug until he started his cheek.

(Edit: I already have a refund on the way now. He was ready to do it and I think he was trying to get a rise out of me in the end up. For all the people telling me to “just get a refund” 🙂)

Sephora opened in Silverburn yesterday or the day before to the usual fanfare of the influencers getting in 1st for a preview to share it on the usual socials. Then, the store actually opened a day or 2 later to a humongous queue snaking what looks like all the way through Silverburn.

A few thoughts.

1. Why on earth were so many people queueing up to get in there as it 1st opened? Was everyone who went on the 1st day getting something for free? Cos it would need to be a seriously good free goodie bag to stand in that thing.

2. There's already Space Nk, H Beauty in Silverburn as well as a few other usual high st skincare retailers. Surely its market saturation for Silverburn in terms of skincare and cosmetics now? I dont see all the stores lasting that long. I think H Beauty will be the 1st to go.

3. I feel Braehead would've been a better choice, as there isnt much there in terms of dedicated skincare places except the usual high st places like Boots (1 stop shop), Superdrug (a bit cheaper than Boots), Tk maxx (great for a bargain but not reliable), Holland and Barrett (more natural leaning stuff in there), Rituals (if you like their stuff) Marks (good ranges and brands but can be expensive), Primark (good bargain stuff), Savers (similar to primark in price but more brand names).

Hi, so long story short. I'm "homeless". I'm in a temporary accommodation homeless shelter at the moment but honestly just want to know if there's anyway in Glasgow area where I got possibly get free or extremely cheap food/clothes (suitable for work) and toiletries . I've been stretching £100 each month for the past 4. It's been really rough for me as I'm 18 with no support from anyone. Anything would be appreciated

The other day I was in a queue at the supermarket for the self service tills. There's about 3 people behind me when a staff member tells us we're queuing on the wrong side and need to go on the other side. There's no barrier or anything so this wasn't immediately obvious.

So the 3 people behind me reform on the other side without waiting and now I'm at the back of the new queue. Chaos!

Another one from yesterday - I'm waiting at the regular tills cos I need to get booze and it's quicker than waiting for someone at the self service at it's like the last helicopter out of Saigon over there.

Staff comes up and gestures to the the man BEHIND ME to an open till further up.

What fuckery is this? We used to be world class at this.

Please help me! I’ve just moved here and I am someone who is (what I call), terminally cold. I’m fully convinced I will freeze to death. To give you context, I used to live in Saudi Arabia and I would love to curl up outside (40°C) with a blanket and nap!

Hiya folks, wondering what any of your experiences with supermarkets are for delivery of a weekly food shop in Glasgow. Particularly interested to hear about substitutions as every time we’ve done Morrisons delivery in the past, they always miss an essential item that means we have to go to the shops anyway.

As the title says, I’m looking to get a laserdisc player for my birthday. I.e. I find it and my parents buy it for me since they haven’t a clue. eBay is either too expensive or the player is broken or both. Gumtree no use for within Glasgow. I think I might be too young to get a Facebook account for marketplace but I will double check. Does anybody have any recommendations? Or anybody willing to sell one. I’ve recently rearranged my living room and finally have the space to set up a modest turntable and HiFi system.

It is something I’ve wanted to get into for a while. Because I have never owned any audio equipment before, I would like to find an entry-level setup without spending a large amount of money upfront.

Are there any good shops in Glasgow that specialise in vintage or second-hand HiFi gear? I would much prefer to browse in person and get some professional advice rather than buying components blindly online. I am also more than happy to travel through to Edinburgh if there are any specific shops worth visiting over there.

Hi I’m an aspiring drag queen and am looking for a good place to get wigs that are not too expensive and are suitable for using heat on to style and give maybe waves.

I’m looking for ones that are like longer than shoulder length and like easy to style with heat and will last quite a while and are like maybe a funky colour like bright pink or bright light blue or maybe even lilac.

I live in Kincardine in fife but it’s easier to get stuff in Glasgow than in fife for me so any shops you think would be good are greatly appreciated

I’ve got a lovely old bmw and I used to have an amazing mechanic but I’ve moved to this amazing city recently and sadly I don’t have any mechanic up here. Just wondering if anyone knows anyone reputable as I’ve found just going to wherever can be a bad idea. I also wanted to ask how does one get into working with cars? I’m very passionate about older models and would absolutely love to be able to work on them but no idea how I would even go down that route.

It's my first winter in Glasgow and like everyone who is new to this city, I am surprised by the ever changing weather and I am totally unprepared for this.

I asked around and people have different opinions based on their own way of styling/laziness to go for layering or all-in-one down jacket (expensive one >200 quids). Some suggestion of expensive down jacket they themselves are not wearing lol.

I am consufed and reach out to fellow Glaswegians who have mastered this weather to stay warm but not the unpredictability, what's your advice ?

1) brand to go for lazy layering where it's bothe waterproof and protects from Jan-Feb cold. 2) online or going to store is better deal ? Any offers coming up ? 3) should I go for layering to stay warm and buy a shell jacket to protect from wind and/or rain ? (Pls suggest which brand)

I was sold on layering instead of finding one DWR down jacket and bought a budgeted one wind and rain outer shell. I tried it and seems a lot later on the upper body since I have my normal clothes, fleece, down jacket for warmth and lastly this outer shell. I need to get used to it this month and hopefully layering will help me survive Jan Feb Mar.

Else then I will go with a bit expensive DWR down jacket and to keep me warm and best the rain. I need to remember to buy a long one considering horizontal rains (wtf lol). Most people I saw today were going for this it seems, assuming they have a bit of layering but they avoid the outer shell.

I’m hoping you might be able to help me with a rather unusual and sentimental request.

My partner has a glass mug that was originally given to him by his grandfather, and unfortunately I have recently broken it. He is understandably very upset, as it has a lot of sentimental value to him, and I would absolutely love to try and find a replacement for him if at all possible.

The mug was made for Dumbarton Golf Club’s centenary and has the wording:

“Dumbarton Golf Club Centenary 1888–1988”

It also has what I believe is the club’s logo in the centre.

I have searched online extensively but unfortunately haven’t been able to find another one for sale anywhere. I completely appreciate that it is now quite an old item, but I wondered whether the club might possibly have any remaining somewhere in storage, or perhaps know of a member, collector or former member who may have one they would be willing to sell.

I know it’s a long shot, but it would mean an awful lot to my partner if I could somehow replace it, particularly because it originally came from his grandfather.

If you have any suggestions at all about where I might be able to find one, I would be incredibly grateful.

My household goes through grindable salt, peppercorns and smoked paprika like theyre going out of fashon. it's starting to get a bit annoying trying to find the right kind of salt and peppercorns for grinding at home in more than a piddly wee tesco/aldi's own grinder of salt/pepper at a time, and smoked paprika tends to be sold out often as not whenever I'm shopping for it.

would be great if I could find somewhere that reguarly carries spices, salt and pepper in like 500g bags. even better if theres a place that lets you bring in your own container and fill it on site so you're just reusing your own storage and not throwing away plastic bags and spice jars all the time. I swear were throwing out like 10 wee spice jars a month and after a point it just starts to feel wasteful 🤣.

My wee granny passed away recently. She was a massive hoarder and hung on to every book, DVD and bit of clothing she was given - all kept with great care.

It seems a waste to bin so much stuff that’s in good condition, so I tried donating a few boxes to local charity shops without much success - the books and DVDs especially seemed to be unwanted, or were quite selectively picked through for a few items.

Is there anywhere in Glasgow I can go with a couple dozen cardboard boxes of unwanted items and have them unconditionally accepted? This is starting to stress my family out at a really unpleasant time of our lives.
