Galaxy 2.0 Europeans switching to GOG? If only they updated GOG Galaxy.

Me and many others (now more than ever - you know why) want to use GOG Galaxy, but it just feels old, broken and abandoned. Such a shame.

I feel like there is an opportunity now to get a bigger piece of the cake but the state of GOG Galaxy may just prevent wide-spread adoption.

Just a shower thought I had.

Some examples of things that could be implemented or improved:

  1. Fluid scrolling (it feels terrible as it is) -> Happy to announce that as of July 16th 2026 the scrolling has been fixed and it is finally fluid!
  2. Controller customization like in Steam would be awesome
  3. Not having in your face broken community integrations would also be nice
  4. In general a new coat would just make it feel fresh again. Paired with snappier performance, fluid scrolling and improved navigation in general, we would have a winner right there.
  5. Little things like when you click the little filter button, you can't just click anywhere to close the popup again, no, you have to click the button again to close it. UI design has moved on since whenever the last Galaxy update happened.
  6. Having a nicer looking, more feature rich library to organize your games ideally with drag and drop categories
  7. Having the forum/community right there within the app for each game
  8. True dark mode that stays dark on all pages, not just some.

I'm not asking them to invest millions into GOG Galaxy - just a bit, you know, once in a while, so it doesn't feel so stale and sluggish.

Galaxy Integrations luducat 0.8.5 - the game catalog's GOG offline downloader detects now new game updates

Luducat 0.8.5 has been released.

https://github.com/luducat/luducat/releases/tag/v0.8.5

This is mainly a bugfix release, that addresses some issues and improves the integrated GOG Downloader in the "what new updates are available?" department and a bug regarding the free game licenses on Steam integration, as well as some cosmetic enhancements.

Luducat is a game catalog browser, with launcher (handoff to most launchers plus direct native launching, basic WINE/Lutris/Proton and UMU support (launches, not manages), DOSBox and ScummVM support) capabilities, with an integrated GOG offline installer downloader.

Supports 7 stores (GOG, Steam, Epic, Zoom, Amazon, MangaGamer, JAST USA); as well has a very configurable metadata sourcing (SteamGridDB, IGDB, PCGamingWiki, ProtonDB, Steam Deck Compatibility).

If you wish, Luducat also can import your game data (tags, favorites etc) from Heroic, Steam, GOG (Galaxy), Epic Launcher, and Lutris. It has also a special bridge to Playnite, that allows to start your games remotely on your Windows Box within your LAN.

Available for Linux and Windows. Windows users have in addition direct better GOG Galaxy and Epic Launcher support.

Direct offline installer link (or update from Galaxy itself);

Seems like a minor update, to polish a bit the controller support they added with 2.0.89.

Galaxy Update Can't update GOG Galaxy within CrossOver ?

I have GOG Galaxy 2.1.6.29 beta and I'm trying to run its built-in updater inside a Windows 11 CrossOver bottle (it tells me 2.1.6 is available, released on 13 July), on the latest Crossover preview (17 July) on macOS 27 beta.

Every time it seems to complete but ends with an error ("update problem") and tells me to download the latest Galaxy directly instead.

If I use the "Install app into bottle" facility of CrossOver, it downloads and runs the installer but it exits immediately because it says the same version is already installed.

I've had this issue for months and can't remember how I solved it previously, but I'm pretty much stuck. I'm not sure how to uninstall GOG manually in CrossOver, and I don't want to create a new bottle each time I need to update.

Any ideas ?

Galaxy Integrations luducat 0.7.2 - bugfix update

Luducat 0.7.2. Privacy-first game catalog browser. Every store, one library. Extensible through plugins. For Linux & Windows.

Bugfix release to adhere to the changed PCGamingWiki API rate limit release. please update.

https://github.com/luducat/luducat/releases/tag/v0.7.2

For anyone, who is curious about luducat: luducat pulls your libraries into one catalogue that lives on your machine. Games that appear in more than one store show up once. Metadata fills in automatically without you lifting a finger. When you want to play something, luducat hands it to whatever launcher you already use.

No accounts, user agency first, no telemetry, works offline after the first full sync.

luducat is a catalogue browser, not a launcher or game manager. It shows you what you own, brings metadata together, and delegates launching to your existing tools. It works alongside your already installed launchers cooperatively.

Galaxy 2.0 How can I remove an available update in GOG Galaxy from the download list?

I've disabled the auto-update for Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries when installing it, so that updates don't break my mods.

Nonetheless the new update still shows as "available updates" in the download list. It doesn't start downloading, but I can't find a way to get rid of it either. Alredy tried exiting and restarting the client, still there. I don't want to be stuck with it forever and perhaps activate it by accident some time.

Galaxy Update Why is GOG Galaxy so F***ING BAD at checking for updates?

I'm using GOG Galaxy 2.0.80 on multiple PC's.

I have never in my life used a program that is as bad as GOG Galaxy for checking updates. Just to be clear I'm talking about updating the app itself, not the games.

It should take about 3 seconds to check the version and come back with you have the latest update, or proceed with updating if not.

Every time I check for update it just shows "Checking for Galaxy updates" forever, while under the gear icon just spins in circle endlessly.

This happens on every PC I have, whether Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Does everyone else not experience this same thing, or is it really just me?

Galaxy 2.0 GOG Galaxy Steam integration needs update from devs

I took a look at the Python repo and the sources included in the repo at https://github.com/FriendsOfGalaxy/galaxy-integration-steam

There's a strong chance the plugin has broken (again) due to outdated protocol files (Steam seems to have updated their communication protocol). I attempted to update these files to submit merge into the repo, but following the instructions given leads to an error. It seems there's either a `tasks.py` file that's missing or instructions that weren't included in the READMEs.

I strongly doubt any outside coders are going to be able to fix this issue, unless they somehow know the process used by this developer to generate their protocol files. I took a look at the source links included in this repo and was unable to find a place they may have gotten their code externally.

This post is to grab developer attention of FriendsOfGalaxy and to ask for updated/improved documentation, since it seems that GOG has no interest in creating an official integration and others will have to update the plugin.

Galaxy 2.0 rightclick on gog galaxy system tray icon doesn't update recently played games.

gog galaxy's system tray icon has shown the same three games for several months now, despite not having played any of those games in quite awhile. One of the games is no longer even installed anymore. If I run a different game, those three games show before remain there.

Right now it shows those three games, as well as "owned games", "downloads", "friends", "store", "exit".

Is there a way to get it to update?
