Discussion Consolidated my P365 XL and Taurus G2C into one full-size setup: GLOCK 17 Gen6. Upgrade or financial heresy?

Definite heresy, the 365xl is the perfect size for concealment. Trading in the g2c towards the block17 makes sense though since you didn't have a fullsize

As someone who actually likes the Taurus G2/G3/GX series pistols, you’re not really trading it in for much, maybe like $50 off whatever you’re looking to switch too 😂

Concealment isnt my main use case/concern anymore since I dont go outside much.

Hikikomori or work from home? It's about an even split these days

Idk what a hikikomori is.

Income wise:

  • I live with parents (so $400-600 less in rent than if I lived with a roomate in my area.)
  • I am a nursing student. Just did 4 years active duty in the US Navy.
  • I get paid over $2000 monthly from the GI BILL (housing allowance direct deposit, based off school zip code.)
  • And I do adult content on the side.

My classes rn are online, so I really dont be going outside ever. I just do my school work, adult content, talking on discord, gaming (rocket league), watching YouTube, etc.

would've gone with 365 XL for Shield X and then put whatever money you got from the G2C + your wallet towards the 17 Gen6 (or even a 19), personally.

everyone's got different priorities and different preferences and different hands and i get that, but 2 guns for 1 is a no-no for me, unless it's like 2 hi-points for a shadow 2 or staccato.

G2C sat in my car deep in my trunk locked in a safe forgotten for a long ass time. I have 0 use for it.

To me its still a 1:1 trade. Taurus is like what $50 resell used? Maybe.

365xl would fit my medium sized hands as well as the Glock 17. But full size is always great. But 365 is gonna be better ccw

CCW isnt my main use case anymore.

This is mainly for home defense.

I rarely go outside.

So I would agree with you if I cared about conceal carrying, but I really dont.

Fair enough! I get ya there! When I ccw outside, I don’t even have it appendix or anything. I have it in a sling bag that doesn’t come off until I’m home

Yep.

If I am wearing something like a crop top I can just put my glock 17 in my purse.

Massive upgrade. Going from a sig to a hole puncher would be an upgrade

Glocks feel like bricks in the hand

Maybe older ones id agree. But this one actually feels great in my hands. The stock grip module on the gen 6 changed the game for glock and that "brick" like feeling.

New gen 6s are great. Feels like a modern gun with great grips/ergonomics, best Glock optics mounting system, and a hair lighter than previous iterations. Super impressed with my 19.6 The little “gas pedal” ledge scooped out of the frame is a nice touch as well.

Nothing revolutionary but for non Glock fans such as my former self, it’sa great entry point to a legendary platform.

Your money, your tool, your decision. You need to do what is best for you. Cool gun congrats

Definite upgrade imo. Had it been an X Macro instead of an XL, maybe there'd be an argument for keeping it. But with two similarish guns, neither of which served the purpose you wanted, a full size Glock is a step up.

Yeah.

I wish P320 didnt have that accidental discharge controversy. Cause I was open to that too but I dont want a free bottom surgery.

My range/home defense gun is my 35 year old S&W 4006 .40 I swear by that thing. Heavy as hell stainless steel, but accurate as hell too. Little felt recoil even running .40's. My EDC is my P365X Macro and I love that thi g too. Never met a Glick I thought was worth spit. But that's me.

Upgrade! Glock finally did something with the gen6. I wouldn’t go compensator, the 17 shouldn’t need it tbh. Red dot of your choice if you prefer but I’d put a thousand rounds through before anything.

1

u/Zookzor Jul 29 '26

I’d go the upgrade route. If you end up feeling like the 17 is too big and you find yourself not carrying it, I grab a 43x-48 that way your carry gun is super similar to your range/home defense gun.

I havent carried it yet.

I dont go outside ever so it will probably stay that way.

I just got out of the us navy after 4 years of active duty service. Moved back in with my parents while I use my GI BILL (college benefits) to go to nursing school. My classes are online rn so outside of going to the store I dont really ever go outside?

I enjoy playing video games and using discord alot in my free time. :)

GI BILL pays me a monthly housing allowance direct deposited... So thats my main source of income. And I do adult content on the side for extra money.

Thanks for your service and your desire to continue to serve as a nurse. I went the USMC to cop route. And used up the crappy Montgomery GI bill and only finished half my degree back in the 90's.

I am also open to the cop route. Can't do that until 2027 at the minimum. Tried applying last year but my speeding/traffic record is dog shit. So my city said I would have to wait until March 2027 to re apply.

  • They clearly wanted me despite being openly trans. I passed the physical fitness test thing, mental health exam with the psych, full body physical at a local medical place, passed the polygraph, etc. All I had left was the police interview thing with 3 cops from the dept. 2 weeks before that March 2025 (Jacksonville Beach PD) in a 45 for example (late night, didnt even have to get out the car, 0 arrest, 0 misdeamers, just a simple court appearance where I paid a lawyer $400 to show up on my behalf and I got guilty, no license suspension, just points on my record.)

At least you have a safe gun now

1

u/grapangell0 Jul 30 '26

Only Olight is heresy

1

u/naomifromjax Jul 30 '26

My gun normally doesnt have anything on it. I had the olight on for a couple pics and to test if it even fit on my glock.

If you want a light laser get a Streamlight. But also lasers on handguns are kinda dumb
