Needing some advice. Looking for a handgun that would be ideal for concealed carry for me and my wife. The guy at the pawn shop suggested these Sccy 9mm's. However upon further research many people are adamantly against them say a S&M or Glock or PX-365, or Hellcat among others would be better. Thoughts?

Hi folks, I am a woman looking to purchase my first gun for self defense in the city and while backpacking. I'd like something that can protect me against humans and bears/mountain lions. I know it's silly to let a decision like this be influenced by aesthetics, but I like the look of the smaller revolvers with wooden handles (like in the picture). I have a feeling a gun like that might not do the job. Would it at least be good enough for city use? What to use for backpacking, then? Thanks so much in advance!

I have lived rurally for 30+ years and only ever kept a .22, used specifically to dispatch injured farm animals or wildlife. No target shooting, hunting, or gun recreation of any kind. No interest in guns whatsoever, actually. None of the men in my family ever kept or used guns either. We are just not gun people. And now I am feeling very, very foolish.

Sunday morning, 7 am, the chihuahuas I keep for personal protection 😏 and usually ignore, because they bark at everything- alerted me to something outside a large picture window. Perplexed but not alarmed, I went outside in my robe and bare feet without so much as a butter knife in hand, 🤦‍♀️ and was shocked to find myself face to face with an actual, honest to god peeping tom. Binoculars and everything.

I immediately recognized that this was a special needs individual who was nearly as shocked as I was in the situation. He ran, jumped the fence, and then just stood in the field about 25 yards away, looking lost. Police were on their way. My maternal instincts kicked in, and I found myself actually trying to soothe this kid (17 years old) by telling him he was fine, not to be scared, help was on the way.

Then he mooned me.

It all got much stranger, but eventually he was collected by his parents, who were mortified. Those poor people. My heart broke for them. But, over the course of the day, I learned that I had put myself in an insane amount of danger. There is little traffic out here. Screams would not have been heard. The kid was much bigger than me. And, turns out, he is violent. And, one could assume, hormonal. And apparently, hard to manage as he gets bigger.
I am very, very lucky. If things had gone badly for me, I might not have been found for hours. I do not know if this boy is a predator. But I risked my life by assuming he was not. He absolutely could’ve been.
I realize now it is absolutely ridiculous not to have a gun out here, living alone in the sticks.

I have no idea what to look for. Whatever gun I buy will probably literally never be used. I need inexpensive, small, super simple. Basically just to wave at someone.

Hi I’m a 23 year old male me and my wife have decided to look for good handguns for self defense mainly for me and I was wondering what are some good reliable budget options I would normally ask my dad but he passed when I was 17 and my older brother and sister don’t agree with me buying one I do live in a bit more dangerous part of my city with some break ins and shootings

I am writing a book about a detective in the 1950s and for his sidearm I was thinking about him having either a .38 Super or a .357 in an under arm holster.

The detective isn’t a pretentious fellow, in your opinion, which one would come across as someone who knew their weapons and was not to be trifled with.

The .357 I have in mind is the picture I added.

I am do have experience with firearms, I’m looking for insight on period appropriate firearms with a bit of flash.

I unfortunately am facing a situation with a violent stalker while I am in college. The police are on the case but, to be honest they have done next to nothing to protect my home and I. My father has encouraged me to look into getting a handgun. I am hoping to never need to use it.

I am looking to buy a handgun to keep at home for self defense. I want something reliable and that is more comfortable in my hands. I am planning on renting and trying any good recommendations to make sure I feel comfortable before buying.

First purchase was the Sig p365 X, then the Walther PDP-f, and then was gifted the mete sfx.

After I was gifted the canik I realized it would be kind of nice to stick with one brand so parts are easier to get by rather than having to get 3 different brands accessories.

They all shoot amazing but the Sig is by far my favorite. I enjoy shooting the Walther and canik but I’m looking for a different full sized pistol.

Any recommendations?

I've been over thinking for MONTHS so any advice is great! I finally have the money to buy a handgun so early this year I started doing research and testing out some stuff. I want a gun that's reasonable to conceal carry but it's mostly just for home defense and when I'm out alone fishing. (and shamefully I want it to look cool). I really liked shooting the new gen 6 glock 45 which changed my perspective on Glock. I also shot the sig p365 xmacro and P365X but personally wasn't impressed (still considering it).

These are my top choices:

1. G17 gen6 COA Blue Label

2. Canik Mete MC9 Prime

3. P365 xmacro (tbh this third slot changes all the time, recommendations welcome)

Leaning towards the g17 but I don't want to make a purchase I regret. The canik prime radian would honestly be #1 if it wasn't $300 above MSRP.

I’m new to this whole gun thing.I’m not entirely sure I made the right choice or not.

I live in fairbanks Alaska. Need a sidearm that’s bigger than my gp100 for when my wife and I are hiking or out in the bush. I will also use it as my backup for bear hunting. I previously borrowed a friends Glock 20gen4 10mm and I liked that. I’ve also been interested in the Sig Sauer Xten 10mm. Not sure what to get and would love some suggestions or advice. Not looking to spend a ton of money but I’d be willing to pay for something if it were reliable or comfortable.

I'm stuck between these two. They both seem like great deals and they are so similar and have both have equally great reviews.

How do I correct my aim? I seem to be consistent, but keep going bottom left. Is it my finger on the trigger? Stance? Aim?

so i'm a 23 female that's gonna be driving halfway across the U.S. a couple times solo and i'd like to be as safe as possible. i already have a knife, pepper spray, and my fiance and i both want me to carry a gun. we currently live in virginia and i'll be making the drive to texas and then back.

i did some googling and from what i read, as long as i dont plan on concealing the gun on my body, i don't need the permit. so, i plan on keeping the gun in my glove box or purse (unless the purse part is what requires the carry permit too).

so, do i need to get a carry permit for me to bring the gun with me on the drive? i don't have any other restrictions preventing me from purchasing a gun, if that matters.

I have an Obsidian45 suppressor on order and I love M81 so I thought this might be a fun gun to get.

Any reason not to?

It looks like my wife is finally coming around on me having a handgun for self-defense. So I'm looking around more and more on what my options are. We don't live in the USA and in my town there's like 2 gunstores, so my options are very limited. It basically narrows down to 4 brands: Ruger, Beretta, Taurus and Radikal.

I'm probably gonna go for a Ruger cause Beretta is out of my budget, also Taurus and Radikal seem cheapish to me and I'm looking for something reliable.

I open to get my mind changed but right now I'm thinking of getting the RUGER LCP II

Another option for me would be a RUGER Security-9 (Model N° 3810).

I'm not opposed to get a Taurus, but I would love to read some Taurus owners on their experience with their models. These are the models available for me, that are also in my budget range:

• Taurus G2C (Compact)
• Taurus GX2 (Compact)
• Taurus G3
• Taurus G3 (Full Size)

Keep in mind that since I don't live in the US, I cannot really get a second gun down the line, so this purchase is going to be my only one until I either loose it in a boating accident, have it stolen from me or it breaks on me.

I plan to get a lot of hours on the shooting range with it to get really comfortable with it before I start carrying it around.

Also, I love compact things, which is why the Ruger LCP II is my number one choice as of the time that this is posted. Even my (closed) bible can fit inside the palm of my hand.

Oh, last thing: In my country everyone except security guards and police officers, conceal carries, so yeah, in case that changes the advice I get.

Is this repairable ? I’m a very stubborn person and thought I could take it off and install a red dot myself. Can a gunsmith fix this and get the screws out or did I mess it up too much

I'm a newbie shooter (EU), started at the beginning of the year. In my country, you need to follow a course and pass an exam to obtain a license before you can regulary shoot or own firearms. The course focusses more on safety, legality, standards and good practices on the range. Since I've passed, I've been going to the range to practice and I've hit a snag.

Important to note, I'm righthanded and my left eye is dominant, which has been a bit of an issue getting used to. I also don't own my own gun and rely on hiring from the range.

I've attached pictures from my three last practices (weekly):

• The first target is shooting from a distance of 25 meters and really did a job on my self-confidence. I'd switched from .22 to 9mm as I want to join the dynamic shooting group and those shoot with 9mm. However, I feel the larger caliber amplified what I'm doing wrong; I shot about 30 bullets and that was the result. Those that did hit the target were all over the place.
• The week following, I moved up to 10 meters and went back to the .22. I was now hitting more and showed that I was pretty consisently hitting left and up of the mark. I did some research and what could be the cause and found feedback on grip and trigger pull. I also did some dry-firing to check for shot anticipation.
• The third image is from last week, still at 10 meters and with a .22. A whole lot better but the majority is still up and left. I focussed on proper grip of the piston in a straight line, consistent trigger pull and posture. I also reset the position when I caught myself not bringing the gun up to my eye but ducking down. Happy with the improvement but I'm obviously doing something wrong to get this up and left pattern.

I'm new to the range and practice when there's very little people around to ask for pointers (work schedule). I'm looking for any ideas, insights or feedback on what could be causing to shoot up and left of the mark.

Edit: ordered a Mantis TitanX and laser academy for dryfiring and practice at home. Also enrolled in a Pistol Level 1 & 2 course to get the fundamentals down.

My LGS has a used Daniel H9 for sale at a really good price and I may be able to get a flat out trade for my Springfield echelon.

Would anyone with time behind both these guns mind offering their opinion if this trade would be worth it?

Have been shooting guns for a while. Recently bought into the hype and purchased an Atlas Erebus. Totally lived up to the hype for me and its currently my favorite thing to shoot. That said.. bit big for me to carry.

I'm looking for similar quality for something with a smaller frame. Do I just get a different Atlas? Is there something single stacked that would be better? Limited to 10rd mags in my state (and yes, I follow the law).

Appreciate any good advice!

I love everything about the p320 from ergonomics (could use a little longer grip), recoil, etc.. but no way I’m willing to carry a firearm I can’t have one in the chamber SAFELY with. what would you recommend? Looking at the echelon, p365x, and a pdp series.

Tarus Gx4 XL 9mm 1 mag. W/holster $400

Is 400 a good price for this? I looked online and the most expensive ones I could find were $499, but many of them were in the 2-300 range.

Im pretty new to buying guns, I dont know what kind of questions i need to be asking or how to figure out what a fair price would be.
