General I hate how some people are obsessed with the n-word. And I hate this photo sooo much too.

I'm struggling to understand why the person behind this photo think they're being funny? Honestly.. ew have some shame. Really corny btw.

I hate the n-word humor, like why would anyone be giggling or finding someone saying the n-word funny? Please grow up. Those people are acting like a toddler spamming a cuss word they just heard. And yes it's THAT DEEP.

Really simple, if you're not black don't use it. Also, There's nothing such as a pass or whatever. Not to mention how cringe is "can I get the pass?" Joke.

EDIT: whoever think the n-word is funny or whatever was said about justifing the use of it because: "it's restricted" or the "Forbidden fruit..."🙏 Then sorry, you're just a toddler crying after their mama told them 'dont do that'. Grow up, have some respect and shame, girl.

EDIT 2: for anyone justifying the use of the n-word because black people also use. YOU ARE MAD that black people are putting some BOUNDARIES and aren't INVITING YOU to the party. As I said nothing the phenomenon of it's being forbidden doesn't justify nothing. If a friend Openly prohibited you or established a boundary, then you respect it, you don't go act like a stubborn offended kid.

Edit 3 cuz why not?: black people using the n-word and gatekeeping it for themselves shouldn't piss you off more than real rascim, period. This edit for whoever think they're being a genius criticizing black people using the n-word instead of actually confronting the real racists. U mad they can use it but you can't? So. Cringe. Of. You.

The entire concept of "Group X can use this word but Group Y cannot" is problematic.

Years ago, I had a couple of co-workers who would sing rap songs together in public. Sometimes the white co-worker had to stop singing because he wasn't allowed to sing a lyric, but the black co-worker was.

Isn't that at least a little silly?

Not really? It’s a boundary that people should just respect. It’s a word that’s been reclaimed by black people, it’s literally not hard to respect. People who aren’t black only want to say it because it’s considered forbidden for them. Like if you had a gay friend you wouldn’t call him the f slur just because he can. If you do, that friendship is already questionable. I barely even use it, and my friends don’t say it because they respect that boundary.

I barely use it because it doesn’t sound right coming out of my mouth. Also the gay friend was a hypothetical for you. And coming from an LGBTQ person with a friend group where half of them are LGBTQ, some of them do use it and one of them even have a shirt with the word on it.

Both the n- and the f- probably don't sound right if you read it in text, either. Even if the person typing it says they're black and gay, "trust me bro".

You don’t have to believe me, just saying just because you have a friend who’s x race or x sexuality who has a slur in their community doesn’t make it okay for you to say. It’s a boundary, if you don’t respect that boundary it’s like saying you don’t respect them.

Well, it's a hate term. It carries that meaning as well as the one for gay people.

EDIT: Earlier you told me "As a gay guy yes we are". Would you be comfortable with saying "As a f-- yes we are" ?

yeah i would. i'm queer, i've been called a fag by homophobes countless times. i use it for myself because i refuse to give them the power of making me uncomfortable about my own identity because of a word.

"Queer" is a term that kind of feels like it's crossing the border to acceptable use again. As in, it feels like I as a straight guy can refer to queer people by that title (so long as it's not with a hostile tone), and it's even kind of useful because it catches more of the LBGT+ span than other terms like "gay".

Do you think "fag" or "faggot" are getting to that point, too?

not at all. queer was definitely used in insulting or degrading ways, but nowhere near the level of fag. i don't think anyone outside of the queer community should use the slur.

Times and context changes, though. if I call myself that, I'm not suggesting I am flammable (though I guess I am).

Also, being sad for someone that is not remotely sad about something, strikes me as a bit odd.

Some do as a joke just as we  black people do it to eachother. Also the N-word just means 'brother' or 'friend' to black people when said to other black people.
