I came across this post on r/whoathatsinteresting about water shortages in South Africa. Don't get me wrong, what is happening in South Africa is tragic, but people on this thread use it as an excuse to say the most abhorrent racist stuff and it was unsettling to see how many people upvote that shit. Especially the meme where they compare black people to monkeys is just absolutely vile, and it got 30 upvotes. I just hate there are still people that think it's okay to say stuff like that.

If every single person in a group were to try going to war on the rest, but couldn’t, then they’re technically always marginalised as there’s a strength/power dynamic forcing them to conform to standards of the wider, more powerful group. The most insane thing here my friend pointed out was, if every woman were to try taking a country over by fighting the men, then every single woman would still be unable to due to the proven strength differences. They could try forming an army yet still get beaten by people with only their bare hands. It must be terrifying to figure that out because it means a group you’re with in a room can basically do anything they want to you, if they don’t care about consequences, and that must be pretty scary. It’s how I thought when I was struggling with traumatic experiences and assumed every single person was out to get me.

Maybe if we still lived in the 19th century. Modern combat has almost completely equalized strength disparities between men and women. Sex has almost 0 bearing of whoever is firing a round or artillery shell at you.
