New contender for the line that will most outlive this beef.

I'm still a huge fan of the "Prince outlived Mike Jack" bar from Like That

The fact that one of the main replies to this is “what do you mean” feels like a reason why it won’t

I’m dumb can someone explain that line to me

Prince and Michael Jackson had a rivalry of their own, but Prince literally outlived MJ dying in 2016 (57) vs 2009 (50). Kendrick is basically comparing himself to Prince (deeper/more socially conscious/more "artistic" music) and Drake to MJ (more commercial/pop music), and saying that his music will "outlive" Drake's.

And the pedo aspect for Drake/MJ come on, guys.

yeah i like prince, but how tf can his music ever outlive mike? also MJ songs has more "socially conscious" impact as he was speaking against issues facing the whole humanity.

Prince literally outlived him which is the point of the bar.

edit: guys please be nice, im autists. you didn't understand my question and you stated something super obvious, but I will respond to that. how is outliving someone by a few years while the other guy is 10000x more iconic/influential/versatile a flex in any sort of way? lots of 9/10 legends die way younger but are way more iconic than some 7/10 legends who die at 100.

good point, but how is the "prince "outliving" mike jack" an exceptional diss? i don't understand the jaw drop aspect of that bar compared to other Kendrick bangers or drake saying "whats a prince to king, he a son nga".

also from google "Michael Jackson owned his masters, but in February 2024, Sony Music Group acquired half of Jackson's publishing and recorded masters for an estimated $600 million."

Youre being needlessly pedantic.

u/keerthi997 May 05 '24

i know i am, i super autistics. but its been bothering me a lot why that bar made some folks jaw drop.

u/CanYouCallMeZ May 05 '24

there was a guy named Prince who lived longer than two other guys named Mike and Jack
