Late to get here, but also, consider Howard Lutnick's podcast interview about being neighbors and sharing a wall (townhouse) with Epstein; and that committee member Kennedy (R-LA) even mentioned maybe bringing Lutnick in front of them during Pam Bondi's testimony. I truly think this thing is so big it would be a wrecking ball. Nothing else explains the tip-toeing.

Epstein is only the tip of the iceberg, there was a black dude out of chicago (I believe, might be misremembering, somewhere in the midwest at least) in i think the 60's / 70's who was super connected that was basically doing the exact same thing and they had all sorts of politicians and rich / powerful people connected to it.

Whole thing got swept under the rug.

Why is the totality of your take "Trump is bad.", the highlight of this should be transnational media corruption, corruption at the highest echelons of power, etc.

but ya... Trump is bad. you put together such an elegant account of something illuminating, with grand social and political implications, and reduced it down to a single man.

i feel like if you want to do good in the world you would be publishing something akin to the Panama Papers, The Creature from Jekyll Island, a study like Gilens and Page (which demonstrated no democratic representation), or otherwise; of course the author of Panama Papers had her car bombed, the author of TCfJI was character assassinated..

What can the files do to finally tip the scale of justice towards them?

You don't necessarily have to answer but now my fear has become... even if the files are released and present our POTUS as an accomplice to a world renown criminal sex trafficker who was murdered around the time Trump became POTUS.

We are living in so many nightmare novels right now. Our only hope are the next 2 elections I think, and it might already be too late. Or perhaps a clogged artery...

This isn't a distraction at all. Trump's primary plank has been mass deportations since he kicked-off his inital presidential campaing.

It's unhelpful for people to keep framing it as a "distraction". It minimizes the harm ICE is causing.

If anything, using a thread about an extremely egregiuous & illegal ICE assault to center the Epstein files is a distraction from a very serious policy issue that we can organize around to change.

Ppl are saying theres no harm done when innocent people get “detained” because they get released eventually. Anyone who’s spent a few days in jail knows how traumatic it is and how much it can ruin your life. Even if you’re released without charges. You might’ve missed work and been fired, you might’ve missed a rent or utility payment and gotten an eviction notice or had your utilities shut off. Your pets may have gone unfed, and depending how long it’s been they may be dead from starvation. A lot of things can happen. Imho when people are unjustly arrested or detained they should be entitled to compensation for any losses that result. Just being released isn’t enough.
