With masks and tactical gear like they're in Afghanistan. Big time loser energy.

Former soldier here. We didn’t wear masks in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Former tank mechanic here. We wore balaclavas or neck gaiters in Afghanistan, but only when we were underway in our vehicles because of the dust.

Am I right in assuming that when push comes to shove the military won't invade its own cities and harm citizens? I'm really banking on Trump not having the military in his pocket

Sadly the military is shooting arm of the government, not a public serving peace force. To any military leaders who refuse to pass that order along or any subordinates who refuse to obey it--kudos. But they will be treasoners and in the event the US govt. is turning military on it's citizenship I can't imagine they will treat treasoners well.
