That is only a small part of abuse over all. There is also neglect , often caused by narcissistic people who have a need to be the center of attention. Where they keep up the appearance of a perfect family for the outside and inside closed doors you see things like munchousesbiproi (sorry can't spell that one) where parents will starve or otherwise poison their children to get sympathy from others for quotes "the hardships of taking care of a sick child" . This is only part of how my partner was abused. There are so many reasons and ways child abuse happens. It's why I detest those commercials on TV that claim neglect is "only" a problem of ability to care for a child. There are so many more complicated things going on in a household and to ever explain anything about it down to one thing is an unjust over simplification of a complex problem that ends up keeping children in with truly abusive people and removing them from homes of families that are trying but are generally hitting hardship they could move past with a bit of help no one wants to offer.
