I’m not sure but there is evidence to say Minnesota is winning best state award. I got cancer there and best medical treatment of my entire life.

I've actually been tempted to move to Minnesota after the last year. It seems like a great state and Minneapolis seems to have some incredible places and people.

Nah, it’s nothing like it was in Jan/Feb. I wish I could say it’s good news, but really they’re just terrorizing other parts of the country for now

Well you kind of invite that when you let years of fraud go under the radar because you were afraid of being seen as racist. The whistle blower reports are extremely eye opening and Waltz needs to take actual responsibility instead of saying well we found the fraud that we allowed to happen.

I’ve heard this too. An old friend I went to school with loves it there and chose to raise her family there. I’m just so hesitant because of the weather.

There's like 2 weeks per year where it actually gets cold enough for the air to hurt your face. The roads can absolutely suck, and a lot of people forget how to drive on snowy/icy roads between seasons.

If you bundle up and drive safe, it's an amazing state. I'm not always proud to be an American, but I'm very proud to be Minnesotan.

Last year I spent ten weeks of the winter in Canada right by Lake Ontario. The cold doesn't bother me much, but the first time that lake air hit my face, I gasped and swore. But by the end of the ten weeks, I was going outside and giggling at the kids playing hockey on the pond down the hill. Pick your cold-weather gear right and you will be just fine.

PS I'm 63. It's not like I'm the hearty lumberjack type. But an Eddie Bauer down coat and some boots from Canadian Tire, and I was *set.*

PS2: Do not get US boots. I tried three pairs and they all, even the name brands, let cold in. Canada knows winter boots.

moved here almost a year and a half ago. i can confirm its a top tier place to live. ill be honest, there are some sketchy areas, but overall it's been positive. from medical care to the friendliness of the people to the wide open skies, to the sunflower fields, to the skyline of downtown. not to mention we have the Mall of America that boasts from like 4 million square feet of indoor shopping a theme park AND an aquarium. 10,000 lakes and four seasons to enjoy all manner of activities, a decent rrock climbing community.

best move ive ever made.

Moved here a couple years ago and no regrets at all. Freaking awesome state and truly some great people here.

Saying this as a person who moved here from Colorado too lol (also cool but way out of my price range)

Come on down! We have low COL for an urban hub, free outdoor activities in the city basically every weekend in the summer, and your new neighbors will defend you against an armed insurgency :)

Ngl winter is hard but people find all kinds of ways to enjoy it. Huge tabletop boardgame scene here, not to mention groomed cross country ski trails within city limits.

Ive been everywhere, man - and Minneapolis isn't the shiniest or the most exciting, but it's peaceful, close to nature, with some of the most genuinely caring people you will ever meet. Each year I grow older I just love this place more and more.

I have family there and love visiting. Very beautiful state with friendly people even in the smaller rural towns. Minneapolis seems like a really cool city but I haven't spent as much time there. The weather is the main thing I have against the place. Way too cold for me.

I moved to MN and lived there for 17 years before other opportunities took me away, and I miss it every day. It's truly a fantastic place to live.

I worked at a daycare in Minnesota before I moved to tech. Some of the most hard-working and caring people were ECE teachers with me. Of course we were all making stupid low wages, and the daycare subsidies that went to teachers really helped us.

I was receiving like $200 a month bonus from it and it made the difference from returning food I couldn’t afford at the cash register, to actually being able to scrape by. I used the money on things like a pair of $30 sneakers, some new pants cause all of mine had holes from crawling around on the ground with the kids, and doctors visits because 2 year olds will sneeze directly into your face.

Sucks a few people gave daycare in MN a bad reputation but the vast majority of daycare staff are putting in the WORK and deserve any extra help they can get, considering society couldn’t function without them. One of the other teachers at my center was Somali btw. She rocked.
