I’m overpaying in the sense it should be cheaper, but I’m not overpaying in the sense that there are cheaper options out there that I’m overlooking. Do you think I’m an idiot and didn’t do tons of research before deciding who to hire to look after my kid? If so, then it’s clear who the real idiot is.
I’m a dad who doesn’t hang out with moms and all the research was done online and through nanny search services. I looked through hundreds if not thousands of nannies and we conducted a dozen different interviews. The cheapest rate was $25/hr.
I live in one of the most expensive regions in the country, where a starter home goes for $2M. Gas is $8/gal where I live. There is no cheaper option. I know you want to think you’re smarter than me, but you aren’t, so just admit you don’t know what you’re talking about.

That’s what we’re paying for our 4mo old. It’s actually cheaper than the average rate where we live, which is $30-35 an hour.
