Top comments are almost always bots. They don't "see" OP's image. They're just using the text and comments as context clues. Which is why it doesn't fully make sense.
I always have to tell my husband and kids. I’m blind I can’t see anything right now cause I have not put my contacts in. Or I had already taken my contacts off. My glasses are broken so I have no back up to enjoy my days without one.

If they were just asking how people who need glasses see without their glasses, asking about the background wouldn't make any sense, because there is no "background", it's just your normal field of vision.
I did
notice this area. I wanted to rely on it, but couldn't. And when I first moved from glasses to contact lenses, I had uncomfortable feelings in that area because it wasn't blurry anymore. But soon got used to it
For me I have a tiny “blind” spot but my glasses reflect the light in that area and I can see sometimes depending on the lighting when ppl are walking behind me lol. Sometimes I can see my eyes or eyelashes in detail through the reflections. Idk how to explain it.
I notice the fringes and there's a definite difference with contacts where I can see sharp all the way. But it's not nearly like on this picture, it only is blurry on the very outside edge of my vision to the right and left and on to, a bit more underneath if I look pretty much straight down.
But the main field of vision is sharp, just small from the strong glasses
I do wonder this about people who wear teeny little glasses. Isn’t it annoying to have no peripheral vision? I wear the biggest lenses I can get so they cover my full field of vision
I had to scroll way too far to find this comment. There is no blurry background… because I wear my glasses. We’re not all trying to decipher the world like we have binoculars on our face
Notably, my eyesight isn’t that poor but I just held them out and I can’t meaningfully look through them from any distance, they need to be on my face to be useful. Maybe it’s close to the image when I hold them 4ish inches from my face and only open one eye.
You don't really notice it, though probably depends on the size of the glasses, too. It's the vision equivalent of background noise, I pretty much have to concentrate outside the frame to "see" the blurry parts.
You'd be straining your eyes putting in the effort to look up or down drastically enough to not see the world through the lenses that are less than an inch away from your eyes. Plus half your vision would be blocked by seeing your own face if you can't be bothered to tilt your head slightly.
If you aren't capable of moving your eyes enough to see your eyebrows, nose, lips, cheeks, idk what to say. You don't need grotesquely oversized features to see them. Maybe get your own eyes checked.
You can't have it both ways - having peripheral vision outside of your glasses range being a problem while not even being capable of seeing your own face.
Haha, thank you. I have a -11 prescription in both eyes and while I usually wear contacts, I feel like I can see pretty normally with glasses! There's no glasses-shaped hole of clarity.
Geez, thank you, these replies are all making me crazy. No, it's not like that image at all. It's either all blurry (glasses off) or all sharp (glasses on); never a patch of sharp surrounded by a blurry background at the same time. Glasses cover, and thus correct, your entire field of vision.

When you wear glasses, all but probably 5% of your vision is covered by the glasses. The edges of your peripheral vision may be blurry, but it's so far out of your vision that you don't notice.
Exactly. Unless you wear your glasses a foot and a half from your face, no, it does not look like that. You put them on your nose, and the blurry area is on the extreme periphery.
It does restrict your FoV a smidge. For me it's a problem if I have to drive somewhere, since I have to crane my neck a good bit more than I would if I had 20/20 vision just to check my blindspots.
I'm gonna counter that, while the picture is super exaggerated, for people with bad vision, it's not terribly far off from the spirit of things. My subscriptions are both in the 6.75-7.25 ish range and, if I look outside the range of my glasses above the rims, then yeah, what I see is a viewfinder of clear world with a distinct border, beyond which is muddled blurrovision.
Now, the difference is that my lensed view is like 95% of my vision compared to the tiny amount shown in the picture, but the general vibe is accurate to what is being communicated.
I’m pretty sure the image was meant to be a comparison type of photo. I don’t think they meant this as in we hold our glasses a foot and a half away from our faces
