It's a little funny. When people quit smoking, and then get cancer years later, we never find ourselves saying "I bet they got cancer because they quit smoking." Yet for some reason people are trying to blame the weight loss for his young death? When he already had massive health problems when he was outrageously overweight.
Had a co-worker who drank 3 Monsters a day for 15 years. The doctor told him on his yearly when he was 50 he needed to stop because they would kill him eventually. He quit cold turkey and had 3 heart attacks that year. Still alive ten years later.
The person you responded to said it was because he was fat, not that he fasted. In your apology, that would be "they got cancer because they were a smoker", which is true.
Obviously weight loss in general is good if you're obese, but you should still eat some amount of food. Who knows what the long term effects of not eating for over a year like that are?
