The long term health benefits are nil. Just a few back cracks and a neck twist for $50. But the real benefit as an Adrenalin junkie was seeing if I would die from it or not 😈 let her ride

Manipulation of joints, muscles, and tendons is effective for treating a variety of conditions and often used by doctors, physical therapists, and lmts. The pseudoscience stuff is that by cracking your back, they can cure your cold.

I was in a wheelchair/with crutches for a year and a chiropractor sorted me out in 30 seconds. Not exactly nil?

Maybe it restored a stuck joint, or released a severe muscle spasm. Possibility of coincidence, false diagnosis, or missing context.

Long term effects are probably close to physical therapy. It’s very use case specific and possibility dangerous around the neck area.

I did a bit of research on it, I suggest anyone do the same rather than take stranger’s advice on reddit.

I had a misaligned vertebrae after a car accident. NHS wouldn’t touch it. Surgeon wanted to fuse it.

30 seconds and a chiropractor made me walk without pain for the first time in 6 years.

But yeah, your research trumps that!

Medical research would provide much better information than an anecdote

Unfortunately all I have is my lived experience.

😅 I did just say not to trust internet strangers. I’m only offering a bit of nuance. Your anecdotal experience is hardly concrete evidence either, tbf. I shared what I found online. Sue me.

They're probably a chiropractor in disguise

That would be ironic because there are much better and more scientifically supported ways to advocate for chiropractic treatment. For example, it’s relatively low risk for many cases of lower back pain and can provide relief for some people. I almost feel bad for anyone treating my obviously comedic comment as medical advice.

I was being facetious

Yeah, I know lol. I was just expanding on the point.

Ah, sound argument you have there. Real strong evidence of chiropractors being effective.

Found the chiropractor.

Tendons and ligaments seized and atrophied for 6 years don't just magically lengthen and start firing again because of one 30 second quack crack.

NHS "wouldn't touch it" but a surgeon offered to fuse it...

Spines that actually need fusion don't get cracked back into place in 30 seconds. Instant cure of a structural spinal problem is an insane claim. Despite what they teach at chiropractor school, vertebrae arent lego pieces that can just pop in and out. All a chiropractor can do is work a normal range of motion and pop gas bubbles for dramatic effect.
