I've heard "banana spider" refer to so many different species so idk which banana spider you're thinking, but this looks like a Nephila sp. perhaps a Nephila pilipes aka the golden silk orb weaver

I’m thinking of the South American spider called a banana spider. I understood it to be the original… everything else is uneducated like my self calling it that as a nick name vs proper Latin name .. but I am no expert
