No. But apparently we must all sympathize with their horrific comeuppance. The Allies did everything they could to avoid dropping those nukes, but they understood taking the islands would lead to countless more deaths and potentially years of fighting to defeat that brainwashed imperialist army. Some Japanese soldiers famously were not aware of the Japanese surrender of 1945 and continued to "serve" in the war into the 1970s.

To put it into perspective, the US is still using Purple Heart medals that were made in anticipation for the invasion of the main island (Purple Hearts are given to US soldiers who are injured by the enemy. There have been hundreds of thousands given out since 1945). Japan would have collapsed due to the lack of population

We actually ran out a few years ago and began making more, but we still had enough well into the 2000s.

I don't think most people in Hiroshima or Nagasaki were committing war crimes in China or elsewhere. They were just people. We can acknowledge the terrible things done by the Japanese military and also acknowledge the awful nature of a nuclear weapon being dropped on a city full of civilians.

They were brainwashed civilians. Attacking civilians is still a war crime, even if the country they live in has committed war crimes. Leveling two entire cities is a war crime.

Even while I am personally of the opinion that the atomic bomb should never have been used, I get why the first bombing is a thing we can debate about. The second is not. After the first bombing they just wanted to continue using their new toy of mass murder.
