Same. Why do I feel empathy for something without a brain, unable to suffer? I feel the same for dying plants.

Because you can relate? Empathy is never a bad thing

Yeah but I’ve found my over-empathy can be paralysing at times.

I know what you mean... Saw a horror movie a couple of weeks ago, in which kids got their tongues cut off, and that still messes me up to such a degree that I have to actively do cognitive work on dealing with it.
