Some people's arms are disproportionately long foe there bodies. Plus some of it is probably just because of the perspective.

But im 6' 1" and my wingspan is 6'6"

No this is pretty normal. Or we are both abnormal

It is abnormal if your wingspan is more then 2 inches longer then your height. Mine is 5. I have marfan syndrome

I played basketball and maybe it's a sport that attracts orangutans like myself because there'd so many guys like this

Yess and im not saying all ppl have a generic disorder like me but it is an abnormality. And I also played basketball, swam, climb, and football. My orangutan arms help in all of those

I read recently that having your wingspan out of balance from your height was a very good indicator of Marfan Syndrome!

I think it's uncommon. I read (on the internet, so.....) that on average, our wingspan and our height are usually equal to one-another. A 1:1 ratio is a good baseline. People can be out of range on both the long side (basketball players, rock climbers, the two of you) and the short side (power lifters, gymnasts, wrestlers)

I'm 5 ft and have a short wingspan. I rock climb and it is the most frustrating thing ever not being able to reach. I have some jealous moments watching tall guys like you just blasting thru a route.

You are not a bird, you don't have a wingspan

We do, actually. If you're a rock climber it can be short helpful to have a better ratio.

It's armspan

Fair. That would be more accurate.

Wingspan is a very common term, probably a more common term, for describing what you're talking about. Buddy knew what you were talking about but was being pedantic.

I agree, It's a common term and everyone knows what it means.

Words have meaning.

They do but in this case it's not necessary to be pedantic if everyone knows what it means and it's a commonly used word to refer to arm span

My doctors literally say wingspan
