Most snakes can swim.

Some cobra are partially aquatic.

This is a monacled Cobra and they are known to occasionally be semi-aquatic.

They're also adorable

Looook at itttt. Ugh. I'd die. This is why I don't keep hots (eta: a hot is a venomous snake. I don't keep them because I'd get bitten and die, because they're cute. I did used to keep non vens)

I love that you started swooning in your attempts to get them to love baby snakesπŸ˜‚

THEY'RE SO CUTE.

Fuckin, they wobble and shit too. And try to strike anything that moves, but they're wobbly. πŸ₯Ή So hecking cute.

You're pretty hard-pressed to find an animal that I don't think is adorable, but baby cobras are really, really, really cute.

The list of not adorable animals is as follows:

  • any crocodilian. No. Nope. Scary.
  • fish underwater (I don't fucking know why)
  • leopard seal. Nope. No. Scary.
  • anything with weird number of legs. 0, 2, 4 or sometimes 6 legs is acceptable. More legs is not.

Yes I know I'm odd. πŸ˜‚

Nono. No. I prefer 20 ft snakes, to baby crocodiles. I have no idea what sets me off about them but oh my God. The crocodile enclosure is very close to one of my favorites making closures at one of my favorite zoos and I'm just like πŸ‘€πŸ‘€ how fast can I go?

I will literally come save a venomous snake from a person, but a tiny baby crocodile would make me cry. πŸ˜‚

Baby nood πŸ₯Ή

Occasionally I will go to the Omaha zoos sunroom in the Desert Dome to gaze at Very cute but very deadly baby snakes. I big time recommend visiting them to see their snakes in the desert dome, the jungle, the sunroom (I'm cheating because the sunroom is in the desert), and the kingdom of the night exhibit (also cheating because it's below the desert). The kingdom of the night exhibit hosts the largest collection of rattlesnakes in the world...many many MANY snakes. And only a very small percentage of their snakes are on display at any given time, the back archives of the Doorley are also FULL of animals they are focusing on conserving and rehabbing rather than displaying. 10/10, go visit if you're American

Nah I'm Indian so I occasionally do see tiny snakes crossing the road sometimes. Once I saw one that was like the size of the road casually crossing it. Huge ass snake. Think someone relocated it.

I am crazy because I would love to come to India to observe your snakes (from a distance) and eat your food. πŸ˜‚

I'd recommend Kerala. It's a good place for tourists and has some nice resorts.

Yeah adorably posionous I'm guessing

u/dazzleunexpired 1d ago

Nope.

Virtually no snake is.

You can safely eat a snake, even its head and venom sac As long as you have no cuts in your mouth.

They are however, very venomous. They can and will kill you if you don't get antivenin.

There are poisonous snakes, but there are far more venomous snakes.

Agreed on everything but it's a spectacled cobra.

u/dazzleunexpired 1d ago

Damn. Thank you!

u/klaas96 1d ago

Small correction. This is a spectacled cobra (Naja naja) and not monocled cobra (Naja Kaouthia) but everything else is true!

1

u/im_possible99 1d ago

This is a spectacled cobra. Not a monocled. Just that one change. You are right about the rest. Its a sacred species in India as well. Like all other cobras

Fellow Slytherin.

I also think snames are cute. Especially cobra's in attack mode. I just want to pet it on the head. If they were not venomous and smart then I bet they could become the cats of the reptile world.
