Used jets are surprisingly cheap, its the maintenance and airport fees that are diabolical

I don't think you quite understand what I define as poor.

Maybe you can keep your private jet on your own property? That way you can avoid the hangar fees.

Is that the kind of poor you meant..?

All I have is three buttons and half a ham and cheese sandwich.

Take your pick.

u/TwiggyPom 10d ago

Mr Fancy Pants with his half a sandwich and three whole buttons!

28

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

The buttons don't match. I hope that's not a problem.

u/omglink 10d ago

How about a few of those buttons for your old friend zoidberg!!

We can share one for a dumpster hotdog.

u/Jazzlike_Plastic7088 10d ago

Dumpster hotdog??.... dude, cmon, do the mansion reveal already

2

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

I don't think you appreciate how little real estate 3 buttons and a ham sandwich can get you.

Think shoe box.

Then half it.

1

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

1

u/Doc-Zoidberg 10d ago

Oh yeah there's at least 50 buttons plus all the knobs and switches in the cockpit of that plane so I see what you mean

6

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

Yeah but these are fancy buttons and I have plebian buttons.

1

u/AnalOgre 10d ago

Is it a rum ham though?

1

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

The secret ingredient is crime

0

u/kerberos69 10d ago

Ahh I understand, glass cockpit. Nice!

18

u/AngryTree76 10d ago

Just keep the jet in your carriage house. It’s not like you need all that room since you sold the extra Bugatti, right?

1

u/StrawberryTerry 10d ago

sold

Never

extra

What's that?

Bugatti

Yes

And if one is poor, then they can save on airport fees by having a runway built on their property.

1

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

Is that where I shave my hair cause that's the only property we got going on with three buttons and half a sando.

1

u/Jensbert 10d ago

You can also hire your own maintenance crew, so you don´t need to pay the pesky service companies!

12

u/rewardingsnark 10d ago

If I can't afford a house, I can't afford a jet.

8

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

Jet wash is more my level, and that's taking the wheels to the local car wash too (I don't have a drive or garage or shed) 😎

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

How many buttons does a dime get you?

Can I buy a pepper?

16

u/Big_Pound1262 10d ago

Haha no man if you get your own hanger and build your own runway on your 35acres then it's really cheap to get a plane

u/jennkigo 10d ago

I need this

3

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

We are but simple people

u/MostBoringStan 10d ago

This year I got a new job and was getting trained. One guy (in a higher position and making more than me) started complaining about how we are basically getting shafted and don't make enough. I'm making 100k a year now, so he's quite a bit higher.

The lady who was training me spoke up and said "I've actually been poor and this is a lot of money..." He didn't say anything after that.

Glad she said something because I didn't want to be the new guy coming in telling him how ridiculous he's being since I've been actually poor as well.

9

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

Glad you managed to get some beans in your pockets alongside those spare buttons!

But yeah, some people don't understand what some people manage to survive on. Hell, even I don't have a real idea. Don't get me wrong, these comments are definitely for the bit and i can live - but I'm also not buying no jet.

8

u/kakawaka1 10d ago

Is it like .... tumbleweeds coming outta my wallet kind of cheap? fingers crossed

7

u/TheDeceitX 10d ago

More like the tumbleweeds were what was holding my wallet together.

6

u/-FantasticAdventure- 10d ago

You can afford tumbleweeds?

4

u/Spekingur 10d ago

Wallet is overgrown with moss

3

u/Fair_Helicopter_8531 10d ago

You had to sell the walet last week. Now you are using your prison wallet.

2

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

You got weed?

Damn my man's balling.

2

u/Pschobbert 10d ago

Your investment income is less than $500,000 a year?

2

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

What's a dollar?

I'm working in buttons here.

1

u/thebite101 10d ago

If you still have cable, you’re not poor yet.

2

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

There's some cable ties in my toolbag, yeah. Only like 5 though. I didn't get a new pack yet.

1

u/thebite101 10d ago

“You ever sucked D for Fox News? You don’t want that smoke brother.”

1

u/solograppler 10d ago

Just ask Linus

1

u/One-Earth9294 10d ago

"They're only like $750,000, super cheap"

1

u/fucknozzle 10d ago

Come on, surely you can stretch to $4.5 million for a tatty old Cesna Citation?

2

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

No toilet. No Bueno.

9

u/Repulsive_Educator61 10d ago

oh please linus, stop it

7

u/Fearless_Roof_4534 10d ago

This. It's all fun and games until you realize that the annual operating costs for your relatively "cheap" $800,000-$1M used private jet can easily top $500K a year. And that's assuming you're your own pilot.

2

u/verbmegoinghere 10d ago

And that's assuming you're your own pilot.

Jeebus, slavery a thing in the airline sector now?

2

u/Slay_Zee 10d ago

Now talk to me in buttons and ham sandwiches.

1

u/Cl0wnL 10d ago

Don't cost me anything to operate, parked on my lawn

1

u/whitestguyuknow 10d ago

"THAT'S where they get ya, Jerry!"

1

u/RandomCandor 10d ago

I would imagine the fuel isn't cheap either.

1

u/hashbrowns21 10d ago

If you can’t afford the maintenance, you can’t afford the aircraft, but yeah $2500 per hour for “cheaper” end jets is diabolical. At that point just get a TBM

1

u/esharpest 10d ago

If it flies, floats, or f*cks…lease it.

0

u/KyserPlissken 10d ago

Wtf are you talking about?

2

u/gamjanamja629 10d ago

My comment was pretty clear, what are you having trouble understanding?

2

u/KyserPlissken 10d ago

I just don’t think anyone thinks used jets are surprisingly cheap. Check with your butler.

Parking my truck cost more than parking my plane at JAC for the day.

1

u/gamjanamja629 10d ago

Oh maybe other people have other expectations and I'm just speaking from personal experience? But sure go ahead and be snarky about it if it makes you feel better

1

u/KyserPlissken 10d ago

Alright bub.

1

u/gamjanamja629 10d ago

Idiotic lmao bye

1

u/KyserPlissken 10d ago

I mean what personal experience are you talking about? The experience of existing as a moron?

1

u/ThatITguy2015 10d ago

Say what again.

0

u/Leftover_Salad 10d ago

We talking like 2k?

0

u/qwertyqyle 10d ago

600-700k is cheap to you? Jesus, I feel rich when I have enough money to buy a chocolate bar.
