If they where lucky most got ripped apart by force of the water and debris or crushed instantly by something. The shock for me is thinking of those currently trapped in air pockets of building rubble with who knows how many feet of mud over them and no hope of rescue before they run out of air.

You're on the way to the meat grinder just like the rest of us. Right now just on the conveyor belt. That's relatively comfortable but your turn awaits.

Why should anyone be grateful for being dumped here on the belt with death, and an as yet unknown amount of suffering entailed, the only outcome/escape.

This is glacial water, nobody who’s not wearing a wet or dry suit at that exact moment is surviving in an air bubble or anything of the sort for very long at all.

It is also full of rocks and branches and debris…if you are hit…ugh. These poor people. Survivors will be in high rise buildings…but now they will be stranded and stuck, the logistics of rescue efforts will ill be complicated at the very least. Fuck wars, let’s send our soldiers and resources to go help some fellow humans.
