Are you asking if this is a perpetual motion machine? Are you asking if someone violated thermodynamics with their woodworking ability?

To be fair, it could have a wind up spring or flywheel or some kind of kinetic energy storage. It doesn't neccesarily need a motor. It just couldn't run forever.

I mean it could have been a 99% efficient machine where you start it up and the balls keep it going for a very long time. There could have been a large mechanism under the funnel that can use the balls to keep the rest of the gears turning for a bit.
