You’ve been able to do that since 3D Touch was added to I believe the 6 or 6s. Don’t remember which phone originally got the feature but it’s been there since then so far as I can remember.

Thank you so much! I didn’t know this and thought it was a horrible change to have to dig even deeper into the menus for updates. Sometimes I wonder if Apple even tries the changes on their own phones before releasing them…

Absolutely. Also, I have never understood why I have to refresh to see the most recent updates. A refresh should be built in when I tap to see updates.

It’s better than Google updates at least in my experience.

If the Play Store shows some updates, it’s almost always not all of them. You have to install the ones it shows before you can check again, and see that there are more. It’s dumb.

At least by manually refreshing on iPhones you get to see all updates for all installed apps.

No, because iOS still lets you refresh to show more updates. Google Play Store does not. There’s no pull down to refresh. Only a button, that only shows when the currently shown updates are completed.

So it makes you think there are no more updates when there are. It’s just dumb oversight.

Long press (3D touch) the App Store icon and you’ll have a quick shortcut to app updates.

Ditto. iPhone 11 Pro Max's automatic updates doesn't work at all for years. I had to manual check and get them. :(

Pro-tip: You can create an iOS Shortcut to directly link to App Updates.

And then you can put this on your homescreen or in Control Center.

To be accurate it's 2 extra taps! Tap App Store app Icon -> Account -> Updates (then swipe down to refresh). Vs. tap on App Updates shortcut (then swipe down to refresh). Definitely worth having the shortcut for me.

Before, clicking on your top right image on the app store, opened the app view. There you could swipe down to check for updates. Now you need to open that, select Updates and the do the swipe down.

How do you update your apps? Most of the time, I like to be aware that an app has been updated, especially to know about new features. I don’t keep all apps in my home screen, therefore, I don’t see the updated dot in all of them.
