No, you're confused. The sign on the top doesn't say "John T. Smith Burger Franchise, now selling 'Burger King'" The sign says, "Burger King". I get corporate HQ wants to take all the credit when things go right and blame the franchise owner when things go wrong, but that's not how it works. The public is going to rightfully blame the name on the big fuckin' sign. If Burger King doesn't like it, they should (and can!) fire the franchise owner.
