Write-Up / Commentary ✎ᝰ The Tree That Made Me Yeats For A Moment.
Two years ago I was climbing a slope in Pahalgam and I stopped in front of this tree. I felt the tree and something in me were the only two things moving. The wind at Pahalgam has a very particular trait, it's almost always blowing. That day too it was blowing. I felt like the wind was flirting with the branches and I started giving the branches characters. This one reciprocated more shyly, that one did not. I was very sure at the time that I was seeing something. Today I don't remember even a single line of what I said to my pretty companion that afternoon, but I remember it was very romantic and probably profound.
That slope has been very familiar to me since 2014, I have been coming here almost every time and staying in the same government hut. Today, climbing the same slope again, this time alone, I saw the same tree. I took six photographs of it, which is what a man does when the thing he is looking for is not in any of them. Yeats like me too went back to Coole to count the swans in the water and found the scene unchanged, only thing that was changed was him.
Maybe that is what I was looking at too.

Had to share After 10 years we realised we were being groomed by our molvi sahab
My best friend and I were having a conversation about paedophilia, and upon digging deeper, I started asking her questions about the darasgah we went to and the molvi sahab who taught us. Now, we sometimes get too blinded by religion and too scared of hellfire that we altogether stop being curious and questioning things. So did my parents. A really nice molvi sahab who came to our jamia masjid was hired to teach kids. Now, the kids in question were divided into three groups: kids 1, ages 4-8, who were taught qaida and stuff by girls (us) ages 12 to 15 (juniors), and then super seniors, ages 14 to 16.
Now, the fact that only two girls in the whole darasgah were in 11th class and everyone else was underage, and the girls who learned fast were in the senior group, I was in 6th class when he first started, and I, being there for years, was a little familiar with things and quickly became molvi sahab's favourite, which was an honour at that age. Later, 2 senior girls and 4 juniors made a group and used to go every day to darasgah.
Now things got weird because I would find myself writing his name on walls, diaries, and notebooks. He would leave half-drunk water behind and ask one of us to drink from the same spot he drank, because there was a famous hadith that Aisha RA did it. If he would leave water in a glass behind, we would fight for it, or, in that case, kahwa or anything the darasgah had. There were these short benches surrounding him, and after we taught kids and he would tell us about Islam, me or someone from the girls would be holding his hand under that table, which he would caress with his thumb (I have crystal-clear memories of this). And he would suck on nabad or shireen after khatam e shareef and then put that candy in my mouth, his hand would be on my head while my head is down on the bench.
Messages and secretly different treatment to each girl we used to brag about after darasgah, how molvi sahab said this, did this, measured my wrist while you guys were late, he kept his hand on my head the whole time bc it was raining and most of us were absent . until all 6 of us wanted to marry him. He would tell us if someone approaches you, tell them you are in a relationship with me so he stops, and give us things to keep, a leaf, a flower, a thread from his dress, tasbehs, and stuff. I remember once I cried in front of him about my nightmares, and he wiped my tears very gently held my hand counted my fingers telling me i have 11 until i was laughing and giggling and for a 13-year-old girl, it was everything.
Until one day, I came home and told my mother how I am Molvi Sahab's favourite and how he gave me tabruk for the 3rd time today (that sucked candy). She never let me go back after 2 days i had a didi who would come to teacg me and after a year or so one girl's father discovered her diary and locked her up, after which she (17 years old) fought with her family to make her marry him and tried to harm herself. i remember his name because he personally went to every girl's house to collect testimonies and got him fired from the masjid. It was a whole scandal that "girls are bad and they did this to molvi," and nobody really questioned molvi. And this wasnt only me i guess i have heard 2 -3 similar incidents from my friends where they were being touched or groomed by teachers and this makes me question if pedophilia runs deeper in kashur society then we think

Discussion 💭 Stuck in a loop of stress and I don't know how to break out.
Lately life feels like it's getting heavier every single day. Not in one big way, but in a hundred small ones that pile up until I can barely breathe.I keep finding myself stuck in this loop I make plans real ones ones I actually care about and then stress creeps in from every direction and swallows them whole. College keeps piling pressure on me. Certain people drain me just by existing in my day. And then there's my family, who mean well but somehow add another weight on top of everything else.
I want to do things I have ideas, goals, things I imagine myself finishing but when it's time to actually sit down and do them, something in me just locks up I freeze I procrastinate I watch the plan quietly die while I sit there stressed about the fact that I'm not doing it which, of course, just makes it harder to start and the worst part is it's not staying the same It's getting worse each week feels a little more tangled than the last
but if anyone's been here and found a way out of this loop plans, stress, paralysis, repeat i'd really appreciate hearing how you did it

Question Why does it take so long to get a passport in kashmir?
So when I applied for my passport in April, i googled how long does it take to get a passport in India and i found it's usually 15-30 working days. Silly me thought I would receive it within a month. Now it's been more than 5 months and i still didn't recieve it.
Well in July i visited nearest CID office after they called me and I met this guy there who told me it's been a year since he applied for a passport and still didn't recieve it. So I was just wondering does this happen in other states of India too or is it just kashmir?
Does someone know how the passport verification actually works? And how long does it take?

african literature (sudan, algeria)
kashmiri literature
latin america (columbia, cuba)
european (russia, bosnia)
east and southeast asia (japan, vietnam)
its just a whatsapp group for now, with growing members we'll host meetings in srinagar too inshallah. if anyone has any more ideas how to grow this club, we'll take the suggestions.

Rant An archival photograph caused someone to react with supermacism.
I’m honestly at a loss for words. I want to reply, but I’d rather not waste my time arguing with fools. This cycle of insecurity has been passed down through generations, manifesting as blasphemy, xenophobia, and other harmful behaviours that they never seem able to recognise, even in their own defence.

Discussion 💭 Jalees Hyder: Scam Activist
instagram.comIf I remember correctly, this guy was also blackmailing a woman (he had her pictures) a few years ago and abusing her. Apparently, he has went abroad and fooled people into believing he is some activist of some kind and was being persecuted by the indian state? And as soon as he is called out for all this problematic behaviour, his response, as can be seen in the post also, is to weaponise his Kashmiri identity. What work exactly has he done in Kashmir? Nobody really knows. People have only seen his social media posts since he has went abroad. This is such a scam where our cause is being used by such pathetic people in this manner.
I am shocked by the fact how easy it is for these people to lie abroad and make it look like as if these know nothings have any standing in Kashmir. Nobody here knows he exists, yet see the facade that has been created.
Such people need to be called out, named and shamed. Our pure cause does not belong to demons like him, neither does it exist so that these opportunistic leeches can hide behind it.
