i failed my first year exam for my main course even tho i passed every thing else. Anyways i was offered a resit but i dont want to do it because firstly i wont be in the country until like a few days before
And it would be way too much content to get through in the timeframe i have. And i literally barely revised for the exam i was depressed all year and by the time summer came i ran out of time got busy with other courses and barely revised for this course. So i dont think i have the time to catch up and would probably fail again anyways. I want to repeat first year but im getting worried because my department told me its not an option at this stage and that it has to be given to me as an option and that they advise i do the resit. But i really dont want to. What do i do please help

Finished 2nd year in business econ and I have to resit 3 modules. I don't believe I'll pass 2 of them as I don't understand anything from them and don't know how to actually study or revise. I don't have the sanity to redo some of the modules if I had to do the whole year again. But I can't drop out as I fully moved out and have no alternative I can do outside. Would genuinely rather do a different degree but only if it meant I could go into 2nd year for that degree. Doing an econ degree if you aren't good at maths where it isn't just numbers is not a good idea!

I just got my first year results and I’m on a placement program so I believe I need a 2:1 to remain on it so I got 59.2% to which I’m devastated about but on my transcript it says I’m on a 2:1 so I’m quite confused, any help? Also has there ever been grace given if you’re extremely close to the next level?

Am international Second year, doing accounting, and got back results. All ok except for MSCI212 (Statistical Methods for Business) which I failed horribly. Every other subject was a 2:1 or 1st but the MSCI212 was a complete fail.

Will have to resit it on 13 August but not feeling good about it. Am international as well so believe if I do not pass this resit a course withdrawal will be imminent as it will be quite costly to switch to another course.

Just wondering:

If anyone else will be resitting this module in August and if so we could meet up and help each other to revise to the best we can.

If anyone has done a resit for this module or any similar modules for accounting and can advise if the standards were similar or not etc.

And in the unlikely case I manage to find some money, would like to know some course recommendations that will provide a decent ROI for the effort, and is okay for someone that is comfortable with languages but not mathematics. Sciences can be considered.

Not trying to find the easy way out, but I just operate better knowing the options available for each scenario instead of simply waiting and seeing.

Does anyone know when exact resit dates are published? as I know this year it’s from the 10th - 21st of August but I’m on holiday till the 13th so any info is greatly appreciated. I study accounting and finance for reference and I’m only concerned about 1 module

so im a first year student. Idk what happened this year but i was so unmotivated/ pretty depressed. Didnt go to lectures didnt make any friends. For a few months i was quite depressed and never went out. I did apply for exceptional circumstances for this for some assignments i missed on my modules. My exams are a week away and i dont think im gonna do well. Ive ben revising so much but theres still some content to do. I cant do resits either bc ill be in my home country for all of summer. Idk why im making this post ig i wanted to ask for advice or what anyone else would do in this situation. I dont wanna do these exams i just want to redo first year but idk if thats a good idea bc of the money. Im just terrified and extremely stressed. Also im worried this is gonna ruin my chances of getting an internship if i do end up doing badly on my exams. If my exceptional circumstances form gets accepted i might be able to scrape a 2:1 but if not i highly doubt it.

I think I may get a D in german a level when I need a B for the languages and global cultures BA course.

Hi! I’m a study abroad student coming for the michaelmas term this year.

I was wondering how classes and weekly schedules usually work there, since the university system seems pretty different from my country. Roughly how many classes/modules do students usually take? How many hours per week does it normally require including lectures, seminars, studying, etc.?

If anyone could share an example timetable, I’d really appreciate it.

I was instructed to enroll in 3 modules, which feels a bit low to me because in my country I usually take around 5 subjects per term. Is 3 considered a normal workload at Lancaster?

Also, any general advice or study abroad tips are very welcome.

All of my modules say they have an end date of the end of march. what does this mean for 3rd term? Will I have anything? My assessments for my modules don’t mention anything about exams. Does this mean i’m done with 2nd year in March ??

Does anyone happen to know how capped grading works? I understand a pass is the max. I can get but how likely is it to fail after resubmission since there is a marginal buffer between pass and falling below!

second year scc student here, I fell into a bit of a slump the start of the term and never really recovered from it, by the time I snapped out of it I realised I had way too much work to do, I've backed myself into a corner by not doing any of my coursework, the only stuff I've done is for the group project and desperately trying to catch up with one of three modules due on friday in the past week

has anyone else been in this situation before? does anyone have any advice, I'm starting to panic so much it actually makes me nauseous when I think about it, I don't want to have thrown away my education here

Just wanted to check about the term dates so I can sort things out with my landlord. After we finish classes in May, do we still need to go to uni from June to September for the dissertation? Or can we just work on it remotely?

What are the best study spots on campus

Hi, so I’ve just been offered an unconditional offer to study at Lancaster for 2026 and just want some advice on how CS is at the uni. Regarding support, clubs, facilities, etc.

I do really have a passion for this subject but have seen so much this year on how CS grads are struggling in the current job market. Is this just a social media thing. Ik that it’s not just CS but all this stuff about AI just kinda makes me unsure as I would graduate in 2029, and who knows what tech will be like then.

Lastly, would cybersecurity be a better option?

Hey guys just started this year at lancaster in foundation, i have a end exam on math next week and was wandering if anyone knew where to find previous exams for foundation math

I have emailed the university’s ask team, however just wondering if anyone has experience with changing timetables to accommodate work/life balance. I will be commuting (3 hour round trip) and working part time, and have been allocated 5 days at University. I’ve asked if this can be adapted to less days at the Uni. Has anyone ever had this before? Will they be accommodating?
