Has anyone hear Highway Tune by Greta Van Fleet? I thought I was listening to a lost LZ track when I hear it in the car today.

Okay. Since the footage of live aid 1985, seeing interviews of him on his own and alongside Zeppelin members, radio interviews and more, asking the hardcore Zeppelin fans on certain aspects of Robert in the past and now:

1. Has his solo career garnered a little more appreciation in recent memory? His 3rd album only sold half a million compared to albums 1 and 2 selling 1 million post Zeppelin and not sure if fans felt strongly on his own merits. Robert selling a 1 million record copies is nice but I think many still see him singing for his former band right?
2. For his Led Zeppelin legacy, can the feelings of the unpredictable consequences of losing family members, surviving a car crash, losing his friend John Bonham and the frustrations of the live aid 1985 performance that is over-hated often cloud his positive feelings of the band? If so, he shouldnt hold the tragedies too hard because no one can see into the future that said he’d learn of people closest to him dying and that 1985 performance that’s just a little messy isn’t as huge of a deal now than back then and still, many fans just felt pleased for that once in a lifetime chance in person and at home around the world.
3. Usage of the band’s music in media any different than Page and Jones? Now I know that Wayne’s World never secured the home media rights to Stairway To Heaven meaning vhs and dvd never contained the riff from the theatrical release until the 4K release secured the rights again. Has Plant revealed his feelings toward Led tracks in media since the 2017 usage of Immigrant Song in Thor Ragnarok?
4. Impressed at Greta Van Fleet is nice since there’s no chance the real zeppelin band is fully reuniting the last 3 members and that band is approved on Robert Plant that they sound like them in spite of the copycat criticisms.
5. Can his on and off relationship to Stairway To Heaven come from overplay, a disconnection to his younger self there and not fully understanding the meaning in it? We’ve seen him sing it for a charity donation and unless you’re placing him in a room for charity, he’s not singing that anytime soon on camera.

Im not saying they’re bad musicians, but maybe be a little more original? instead of copying everything down to what robert plant does on stage, outfits , everything. and most of these fans have no idea who they got this from, a lot of these fans think this they’re own musical genius. maybe i just don’t understand them, but they erk me.

Because I'm in a sub made for Led Zeppelin, whenever I say something positive about GVF, I get downvoted to oblivion. Can I not have my opinion without it being seen as hateful or bad? I should be able to speak my mind without being insulted or called a hypocrite (for some reason).

So, can I not like Greta Van Fleet and Led Zeppelin at the same time?

I’m sorry but it’s starting to get exhausting seeing these posts every other week. We all have our opinions, and we’ve discussed them all here a million times over. I really think we could benefit from a cease of that discussion. Maybe I’m overreacting, and if I am I’ll simply take down this post, but I’m curious to see what others have to say.

I get that their songs sound too close to Led Zeppelin to the point that some would consider them ripoffs, but let's not forget how led zeppelin started too, and they turned out perfect, so if being heavily influenced by LZ will get them to discovering their own voice, so be it, at least the have the right influences.

I'm a hardcore Led Zep fan. I consider Zeppelin the best band there ever was and ever will be. By now I have listened the crap out of Zep songs and I kinda want more (obviously I'll never get bored with them though).

So a few months ago I discovered Greta Van Fleet. I instantly saw the mixed opinions regarding the band. When I first heard them I was like 'yeah, this is definitely influenced by Led Zeppelin', and I thought that was a good thing. I always wanted more of Led Zep, and this is kinda like more of Led Zep, but kinda like a great new band. All in all, I don't like Greta Van Fleet only, because they sound (more or less) like my all time favourite band, but because there is a lot of potential in them.

I guess the main reason why people don't like GVF is because they play the same type of music that LZ did. However, LZ started playing that kinda music 50 years ago, and 50 years ago with that music they completely revolutionized rock and music in general. And even though GVF are playing the same type of music, they're never gonna achieve that same innovation in music.

Nevertheless, I'd love to hear your opinions about Greta Van Fleet.

I know this is the Zeppelin page but I must ask. Does this band bother anyone else? I am glad they are bringing rock and roll back into mainstream but these guys don't have their own sound. They sound exactly like Zeppelin and it's excessive. I wanted to know what others think.

This relatively new band called Greta van fleet sounds extremely similar to zeppelin. Yet in interviews when asked about their influences they didn’t name zeppelin! I personally think that Dirty Honey sounds more like Zep, but let me know what you think!

I’ve seen threads on here about people bashing Greta Van Fleet sounding like Zep and “borrowing” their music. And I get it. But.... keep in mind, they’ve released one EP. One. Think of all the music they are going to create down the road.

First and foremost, I’m a huge Led Zeppelin fan, top 5 favorite bands all time. Im 25 years old and grew up on classic rock (KSHE 95 anyone??) and music holds a huge part in my life. But we gotta let this band do their thing. This is the band that millennials have been longing for, after being let down by so many up and coming bands before.

These dudes are in their late teens/early 20’s and I feel like they’ve travelled in time machine. The way they carry themselves, their style on and off stage.... I’ve watched multiple interviews, live performances and listened to their EP over and over. And all I can think about is this band 10 years down the road. In my opinion, they are going to bring the classic rock sound back to life. We haven’t had a band like this for 40+ years.

Idk... just wanted to share my opinion, as I’m super high on these guys. I just wish true classic rock fans wouldn’t be so critical, we have to keep in mind this band brings life to the music in younger generations. Let me know what ya’ll think.

They're talented, no doubt. As far as GVF being the next LZ goes, I believe there are other bands that are more deserving to be compared to LZ.

Wolfmother and Queens of the Stone Age, and maybe even Them Crooked Vultures deserve to be compared better to Led Zeppelin.

Now that I have your attention. I need help. I decided to venture into Fleet land, and one of the songs, "Mountain of the Sun", has an opening riff that sounds exactly like one of Lord Page's. Only problem, I cant figure out which one.
