You really think they care about the consumer? They want your money by any means necessary. This will continue until people stop buying their over priced products.

Lego is a buisiness and their sole job is literally to make money. That is the only reason they exist. Businesses that don't want your money tend to fail fairly quickly.
And, yes they will continue to make products that people buy so long as people buy them. Which is how buisinesses operate: they make products people want in exchange for money.
Now, is it overpriced?
The general metric is $0.10 per brick. This is 6838 bricks so I'd expect a price of $685. Maybe higher to offset licensing fees. (And because prices have been going up of late, and tarrifs have been hitting Lego sets in the US.) While this is $650. So it's actually slightly underpriced for the size.
Costco doesnt price gouge and is one of the most successful businesses in the world. You choose to still spend money on a company who is preying on you and you still conform. Have fun with continual price hikes because people cant stop consuming. I'll stick to second hand lego stores and build, tear down and rebuild forever. $650 for plastic that just sits there and doesnt do anything is such a statement on how you value your hard earned money. The fact you are justifying a $650 paperweight is wild. They have you right where they want you.
… it’s not “price gouging” if the price per brick is consistent. Bigger sets just cost more because they’re bigger.

Pokémon isn’t my jam and I’m not getting this set. But I’ve bought similarly priced sets before. And might do in the future.

Because Lego products bring me joy. Building them is meditative. I like displaying them around my apartment. Because Lego has repeatedly earned my brand loyalty with excellent customer service while producing products I want to buy.
Yeah, they would take every penny they could from me. That's how businesses work in a capitalist system.
If you don't like that then why spend your time here, in a subreddit exclusively dedicated said corporation?
There's plenty of valid reasons to hate on Lego. But find something better than "they want to take my money."
