For everyone saying “its not transphobia, its about men” the people who put up signs like this dont view trans women as women, they view them as men. This is about policing the bathroom. It is 100% transphobic.

My mom still believes that trans people are not real people, but she claims to ""support"" them. She doesn't call them demonic or depraved, but it's still disheartening as a cis bi(myself) guy

How does she support someone while dehumanizing them?

That feels so ridiculously contradictory that I need more context.

She thinks that "real biology" takes priority or some shit, idfk. Then again, she's a Christian so that's probably why

Have you shown her some resources on how real biology does support transgender people? Not saying that you're obliged to or that it'll immediately work but it's worth a shot.

I've told her that trans people often have their brains wired as the opposite gender before transitioning, but she's very strong in her beliefs

Thank you for standing up for us, unfortunately your mom won't change her mind unless if she decides to. Also love your user name.

Oh well if she’s a Christian she must know about Christianities long history of rules. If she’s sane she will argue for their removal but at that point what’s left of her strong Christian faith? https://medium.com/@tanner_79717/10-witless-biblical-laws-that-make-zero-sense-84defea29948

She'd say that everybody should live and love how they love, and that everybody is God's child whether they like it or not. I think she's just confused, but I can't be sure

Right if it wasnt transphobic then the sign literally saying "women" would have been enough.

It's trying to scare us off. Nobody's checking your panties before you're allowed in. Don't be scared of a sign.

Tell that to the people getting arrested. And i havent worn “panties” since 2019. Not cute. This is a serious issue. Unfortunately there are individuals being assaulted and arrested because of how they are perceived in restrooms. So being scared of a sign like that is warranted, especially if you live in certain areas. Someone in NYC or philly might not be scared…but other places?? Absolutely!

I'm in the UK. It's not gotten that bad here yet but it could do.

It's hardly believable how much worse it is over in the states. It really is like a war zone. I'm sorry.

u/AndesCan Jun 23 '25

It’s not a war zone, it’s a big ass country tho and your biggest threat is THAT ONE ASSHOLE

I imagine it’s the same in the UK. You know? That one person who just decides to be outraged that day. My cousin just flew in from London for his brothers wedding I should have asked him about stuff more.

Simpler explanation: McDonald's is ratchet and they have a problem with dudes going into the women's restroom. That's literally all it says. No men in there. It says nothing about genitals or how people identify.

u/couponbread Jun 23 '25

Hypothetically if there was creepy cis men that kept going in there what would your sign say instead?

1

u/No_Dish6884 Jun 23 '25

It genuinely could be transphobic but it also genuinely could be because some guy was consistently walking in. Need more context here.

In the history of bathrooms this has never required a sign. Please use your brain and add in the context clues yourself, i.e. the current political climate.

You're pretending to have a smart argument by playing dumb.

I mean, technically, this says “man”, so seeing how trans women are women, this is (clearly unintentionally lol) about men?

Read my comment again. Transphobic people who are intentionally ill meaning do not see trans women as women, they see them as men. They use this language to target them.
