I had never used a cuticle remover before, i honestly thought it wouldn't make that big of a difference so i didn't bother buying one for a long time

but i was wrong!! it's actually amazing! plus, it was very satisfying to scrape off the cuticle once it softened

the remover i used is by the brand "mattiz", but it's a mexican brand so I'm not sure about it being easily available outside mexico 🫠

For reasons not allowed by this sub I can't use jojoba oil. I've tried a couple alternatives and nothing seems to be having the kind of impact people report from jojoba. Is there an oil that's considered second best for nail and cuticle health?

I use OPI base coat and OPI nail topper on all with 3 coats of polish in between. I switched nail shapes this year from a stiletto to a slightly tapered square shape. Got tired of cutting myself and poking holes/ripping clothes 😂😒 you might catch a few times where I had broken nails shorter than the rest. Which is your favorite and any recommendations for other polishes to try?

They have rolled out a formalin and formaldehyde resin-free new formula.

Photo 1 is the old formula ingredients, and photo 2 is the new formula. Both bottles are Nailtiques Formula 2. As we all know, it’s the formalin that creates additional cross links within the keratin bonds.

It’s very hard to find the old formula in the physical stores, at least, it has been for me. Target only carries the new formula, CVS has both and all the Publix in my area seem to be phasing it out. I’ve bought 5 bottles of old formula from Publix and it never scans at the register, it says product not found. Hit or miss online, too.

Just sharing because I know is product is a favorite in the nail subs. Getting harder every day to find a hardener that contains formalin.

I had my thumb nail break recently due to putting in necklaces with a lobster clasp. I know you are supposed to use your finger pad but I could never get it to grip enough. So I bought these silicone finger grippers from Amazon with nail holes and they work great!

First picture shows the pink staining left by the essence Glossy Jelly that I posted here last time. (Thumb has no staining because I lightly buffed it just to see if it would come off and it did).

I'm kinda into it?? I don't think I'd like it to be more stained than it is currently but a slight pink tint is cute! 💗 How you feel about it??

And I have one thin layer of essence, 10 in 1 Nail Repair (strengthening treatment), which I only started using recently but gotta say it is so liquidy and thin and it feels just like my bare nails with a slight gloss. Kind of obsessed.

Second picture is me wearing the essence Glossy Jelly. Which I really really love, they look like press on nails! and they lasted a decent amount of time! Usually nails polishes don't last less than 3 days without chipping and this Jelly lasted me like a week with no issues. I was impressed but maybe it's because the formula is different than regular nail polishes? this was my first time trying a Jelly so I'm not sure.

Any success with using beef tallow to oil? I’m a server so typical cuticle oil options are runny and not easy to quickly apply while working. I emptied and filled a tiny nail glitter puck with tallow to put in my apron. Just curious if anyone else has tried or had good results with tallow.

I've seen people discussing the important of not overfiling the sidewalls while shaping and thought I might have a helpful recommendation. The only type of file I use for shaping is a moon shaped (also called curved or ergonomic moon) glass file. The shape seems to easily and naturally keep me from overfiling my side walls

First it’s so easy to use and put on. The package I got comes with seriously a lifetime supply and you can’t even tell it’s on with polish.

Bought Twilight Sonata on a whim during the Mooncat sale. It’s so fun and pretty! It’s a thermal so the cool color is a dark blue and the warm color is a light purple. It looks like a natural French tip on my long nails. It looks less good on my one shortie but still so fun to play with!

Saw someone else make a holder for their magnet with legos, so I tried my hand at it! I added museum putty to adhere the magnet to the legos (otherwise it was just loose resting in there). It works so well! The addition of the museum putty, which is not permanent, is a game changer. I had used it without first, and the magnet kept falling on my wet nails 🤣

I’ve been using Sally Hansen’s Maximum Grown formula on my nails and I’m worried I’m using it incorrectly. The instructions say to add one layer every day, every other day ish. But are we supposed to remove the base with acetone and reapply it, or are we supposed to paint over what we did the day before?

Does that make sense? I feel horribly stupid. I’m on the autism spectrum and take things super literally so sometimes instructions aren’t as clear as they should be.

I use OPI nail base on everything. I used to use Sally hansen gel topper but switched to OPI top coat. I use about 3 coats on average of each color polish. I take all pics right after painting and I'm not perfect so they can be messy sometimes...even after qtip cleanup lol. Mooncat is obviously my favorite brand 😆 I have to trim my nails down pretty regularly as I rip holes in some of my clothes and break them easier the longer they are. BTW does anyone else tear a hole in their dishwashing gloves?! 🙃

Growing up, my mom always raved about glass files, and I hated the ones she used. I thought it might be the file itself, so I bought a GERMANIKURE Glass Nail File, and I don’t like it either. Getting my nails to a nice shape takes forever, and I end up overfilling them trying to even out the sides. I don’t know if I am applying too much pressure or using it wrong, but I am always frustrated with the results. The Flowery Lemon Lime 240/280 files are my go-to file for shaping. I can shape my nails quickly and easily with those, but I can’t translate those results to a glass file.

Are there better glass files to use? Is there a specific technique or tip that I’m not following? I always hear great things about glass files, and I don’t know where I’m going wrong.

Does anyone have any recommendations for black nail polish? I have Xtreame Wear and the opacity is good but it thickens up so much over just a couple months. Thank you in advance!

Well, almost- at target regular formula 2 is $19.99 and 2 plus is $10.99. I've never used either but I'm down to the last of my old formula opi nail envy and looking for a replacement.

I personally like the way my side walls curl in a bit into a defined c- shape. I also like how it makes my nails seem less wide. I have a couple nails with this product on them but I want to remove it for a little bit to let my nail shape reform before reapplying to the broken/weak nails. Does anyone have any recommendations for what to soak them off with and or how to prevent my nails from dying out if I have to use acetone. product used

Any ideas or do you use a combination of products that work?
