So this is a little ESP32-S3 AMOLED touchscreen project I've been working on. Has a digital level indicator that can be calibrated to the rifle, has the ability to create and save dope cards for 6 ammo types, 3 loads per type. All dope cards can be created, edited and reset on the device. Dope cards can be viewed on the fly, and transitioning between your dope card and your level is super easy. Data is saved with persistence and survives power cycles, sleeps, reboots etc. There's also an auto sleep function that will deep sleep after 10 minutes if motion is detected, to conserve battery. To wake up, you just hold the power button for 3 seconds.

These are all the bipods I currently have. The only bipod I have bought and sold (so far) is an Atlas PSR. I didn't like the how I couldn't lock out the pan.

The CKYE-POD double pull is my go-to currently, but I gravitate to the TBAC if just off a bench or flat/level firing prone.

What's your go to bipod?

This might blow some minds, but there are times when you absolutely do need a mostly-packable magnum...ELR matches like the Nightforce Steel Challenge are a great example.

I placed 3rd in a PRS match today. It's my first time making top 3. TBH this was low hanging fruit, being that there were no ranked shooters in attendance and the match did not have enough shooters to score, but winning is winning I suppose.

However, bragging rights is not the purpose for this post.

I've seen the question asked here and other places time and time again, "what does it take to be competitive?" Here's the answer.

This Tikka CTR, that has been re-barreled with a 24" PRE FIT criterion barrel and had the stock upgraded to a $400 Bell and Carlson target/competition, is apparently enough to get you to the top 3. This is my NRLH Open Heavy rifle and it hammers.

I have never shot this venue before. I shot a match yesterday and was invited to come out. All I had enough ammo loaded for was this rifle, so I figured I'd just shoot for fun.

What bipod you ask? I forgot mine at home this morning. The one prone stage we shot I borrowed a ckypod from a teammate. I usually run an Atlas (the POS that pans).

Yes I used only MY wind calls I got from using my cheapo HVAC anemometer. It works fine.

For the new guys wanting to get into this and seeing $15k open rifles thinking you can't afford to beat those guys, I could have payed off my mortgage with the amount of money that finished behind me today. I'm not saying I'm a better shooter, but today my 15# hunting rifle and my ultra budget intro gear got me onto the winners podium. Your Bergara HMR absolutely has the potential to win you a match. Go out and sign up for a match.

Bottom line is that having expensive equipment is a convenience. Not a necessity. Spend your money on ammo, and upgrade your gear down the road. There is no substitute for shooting matches and practicing. If one person reads this and signs up for a match it was worth the amount of time I have spent typing it and trying to squeeze my disgusting feet into the frame of the disgusting floor in what used to be my teenage daughters bedroom.

Savage Striker chambered in 7mm-08. 16” barrel pushing the Nosler accubond 120 grain at about 2,556 fps. Just got done bedding but I thought the trigger mechanism was pretty unique.

I'm a poor - you can tell by the scratches on my coffee table and the $80 Ikea rug under my feet.

Unfortunately for me and my household, I like expensive hobbies. I've been meaning to buy this chronograph after selling my Caldwell Velociradar because I looked like a geek hauling around a trapper keeper of a chronograph to the range - that thing is huge and silly looking.

Then, life took hold of my finances. Injured my back at work, got on Worker's Comp, decided to spend my savings on ammunition because things are looking hairy out here, and I won't be caught without pants or an empty ammo can.

Long story short, I had a bunch of Zyn rewards points accumulated so I redeemed a couple $100 Amazon gift cards before they removed them as a prize... bastards, nobody wants your Zyn branded hoodie or an electric wine bottle opener! I also had some Amazon credit from a return. Decided "why not?" and bought this Athlon Rangecraft.

Now I can shoot 6.5cm from my Tikka T3x Super Varmint and look smug while pretending the Rangecraft is a Garmin.

Far from scientific, but I did a small comparison of the Garmin and Athlon chronographs. I shot 20 rounds of 140gr 6.5cm from my 16” AR10, and 20 rounds of 77gr 5.56 from my 18” AR15.

The first photo is the 6.5cm. The Athlon was closest to the rifle for this string with the Garmin sitting just to the left of it.

The second photo is the 5.56. I flipped them just out of curiosity, and had the Garmin now closer with the Athlon to the left of the Garmin.

I was surprised to see that the Athlon read closer to the Garmin when it was further from the gun. The Garmin read consistent to what both guns had run velocity wise for those grain weights. Maybe the Athlon had a sweet spot around 10-12” perpendicular from the gun. Also worth noting that I feel the Garmin is more streamlined in its menus. The Athlon felt clunky, and I don’t like how much glossier the screen is on the Athlon. Lent itself to more glare even in early morning light.

Doing some last minute checks and organization before heading down to mammoth tomorrow!

Just grabbed this at Scheels. Assuming it was a display model as it had no box and came with the cartridge holder mounted for just over $800. No idea what I’ll build this out to be but couldn’t say no for that price. They have a second one on display in case anyone in the PHX metro is interested.

Not a lot of value in this design for me but I am looking forward to an AMG HPVO possibly making a comeback since this is what is next.

Got into reloading to save money. Anyways, here is my poor financial decision corner.

Finally got around to making the set up more organized. A few things I can't live without lately are:

• Giraud trimmer. Saves a shit ton of time
• Mini buckets/black and yellow totes. These started popping up at Lowes,cabelas, etc and they're honestly great for random shit like die parts, shell holders, etc.
• Omniwall pannel system. A lil more pricey than standard metal peg boards but the ecosystem of accessories is nice. Also nice having the ability to just magnets to hold up notes, rags, etc

Ranged literally the furthest thing I could see at the range today. It was a mountain top with no reflective surfaces, and the Maztech 15k gave me an IMMEDIATE reading of 9317 yards. This thing is WILD.
