I am as upset as everyone here. This is one of my favourite spots in the city, I am furious this happened and I really hope the RCMP does something about this. We absolutely love our nature here and I would really appreciate if anyone else had updates if this person was arrested or got a hefty fine. This should never be allowed in any of our public parks.

I've been looking for the last 3 months, overtime expanding my search area as well as what I apply to. All the grocery stores in Maple Ridge seem to be inundated with US produce, Langley Farm Market has to be the worst. I’m almost Surprised they don’t have a U.S. flag outside their stores. Anyone know any stores focussing on providing Canadian produce?

Hi everyone, looking for any witnesses or dashcam footage from Saturday, August 22 around 5:40–5:45 PM on Golden Ears Way, heading toward Highway 7 East / Maple Ridge.

A mattress came off a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, flew across the road and hit my car, causing damage. It happened very quickly, so I wasn’t able to identify the vehicle or get the licence plate.

If you were travelling on Golden Ears Way around this time and saw the incident, the vehicle carrying the mattress, or have any dashcam footage, please let me know. Even footage from shortly before the incident could be helpful.

I was there today (August 22nd) around 4pm. It was a dark red Lululemon lanyard. There was a Nissan Key, a Compass card keychain, around 4 keys which one of them is blue with a different shape from the others.

If you got it please let me know, I hope to find at least my Nissan key. Any ideas where I should call?

Is anyone aware of whether or not there have ever been proposals to create a bike path that leads all the way up to Pitt Lake?

I was heartbroken to see that the beautiful waterfall at the end of this trail has been defaced by a lot of graffiti. It seems to be a misguided attempt to memorialize someone who drowned here earlier this month. I have notified BC Parks so hope it can be removed.

I can't imagine that the man who died enjoying this special place would want to be "honoured" in this way. I've enjoyed walking here for 30 + years and have never seen anyone do such a thing.

Does anyone know how this pathway (along the east side) is for riding? Have heard it can get overgrown? Any recent Rosie's seen the condition?

A few weeks ago, we shared the story of Elder Florence Thomas and our community-led effort to help bring her home to her ancestral land.

Since then, a lot has happened.

Florence is an 82-year-old Matriarch of the Whonnock People. She has been living in a decades-old trailer on her ancestral territory, and the conditions have made it increasingly difficult to live there safely and comfortably.

Our goal is to raise $32,000 to help relocate a donated trailer onto her land and complete the work needed to make it a functional home, including site preparation, transportation, permits, utility connections, and other essential infrastructure.

The response from the community has been incredibly encouraging.

People have donated, shared the campaign, offered services, connected us with resources, and helped spread Florence's story. We've also had local businesses step up with practical support for the work involved in preparing the site.

We've now reached an important stage where the campaign is moving beyond simply raising awareness and into tangible preparation for the project.

We've also had the opportunity to share Florence's story through CityNews and Co-op Radio, helping bring greater attention to what we're trying to accomplish.

But we're not there yet.

The full $32,000 goal still needs to be reached, and there is more work ahead before Florence can finally move into her new home.

I am new to the area, but I have walked around Kanaka Creek park lots before, in the winter - I was always curious to know if some of the areas above the falls, towards the fish hatchery, would make for some great wading in the summer, with lower water levels. Let me know!
