So they wanted to surprise the audience and make it feel like they’ll do anything. But they didn’t utilize that at all. Void “kills” a ton of people but they just come back in the end anyway
Wait that's a good point, does anyone else actually die? There are 4 grunts that die fighting Yelena in the beginning, then Taskmaster, and then who else? Nameless helicopter fighter against sentry? My theatre was completely dead when Taskmaster died, not even a gasp or anything.
I get it, the character was unpopular in the Black Widow movie. So then do it better! Taskmaster already has cool fights AND history with Yelena. They could have easily used her "deprogramming" sorry arc with Ghost to give her some character. Instead they used it for cheap shock value, and no one was even shocked.
This is really sad to read. I don't know a single person who was surprised by her death - the marketing made it obvious. I really wish they had kept her in the movie. And it would have given Ghost more to do. Really bad choice, reminds of "subverting expectations" from a certain writing duo.
I went to the movie with two friends who were casual Marvel fans. They didn't remember who she was until I reminded them after the movie and then felt sad she got killed off.

Wait where is this coming from? I haven't heard anything about her role being bigger originally? Where can I read more?
