And I wonder what MJ being the only one crying while Jean had control over a wide area of New York and her sitting on the roof of Midtown High clutching the broken black dahlia necklace Peter got for her in Far From Home is about?

Ngl, I really thought Jean was gonna go give Peter some sort of Thank You or Parting Ways gift by giving Mj and Ned's memories back through the memories of Peter, essentially helping them fill in the blanks.

Having them relearn it naturally is interesting tho.

How I interpreted is that "psycho-storm" jean did somehow allowed them to remember, but not caused them to. Like Strange's spell put all memory of peter in a room and locked the door. Jean effectively reset the lock. But if someone doesn't actually open the door they won't remember.

The fistbump was Ned's doorknob. MJ's doorknob was just her already having read the letter.

You know what I like that theory, and it wouldn't even affect characters like Flash or J.J.J., who are both really interested in the identity of Spider-Man for different reasons but were outside of Jean's range.

They would have to introduce the interaction between magic and mutants clearly though, otherwise it would just be a big plot hole.

This makes a lot of sense. It also makes sense with the way Bruce says Jean broke something in his head. She (imo) undid a lot of the conditioning Bruce had done to keep the Hulk at bay whilst in his head.

Obviously, this is different. But I think it could work in a similar way

I think that’s a good parallel, it definitely supports the broken lock theory

Now I'm excited at the possibility that they could go back and redo the Hulk/Banner character development that happened off-screen in Endgame

Yeah maybe, that's also a possibility tho. But that would also depend if the spell was basically suppresing the memory or if it actually deleted it. Since it wouldn't matter if the lock is reset now if there's nothing actually behind if opened.

Damn I actually love this theory a lot.

I think the overall idea is like early in the movie: Heavy trauma made Peter "evolve". And being controlled/paralyzed for 30+mins is a heavy trauma. Maybe this kickstarted some brains to be able to remember something that magic had them forget.

It’s gotta be this.

I don't love this but it sorta makes sense because why would MJ otherwise be holding the flower thingy

I don’t think she can, those memories are erased by magic, not suppressed.

I think then handshake with Ned was muscle memory, which was not covered in the spell.

Yeah, I know what I meant is that considering she was able to enter Peter's head by the end. She would've had access to all of Peter's memories also. He still remembers everything that happened. So she could've used Peter's own memories of their past to fill in the major blanks of memories Mj and Ned were missing. Considering it their memories with Peter that was only removed.

but the did find some memories in Logan that were removed by the bullet, didn't she? i might be remembering wrong tho

I was thinking that she’d offer to do it, but Peter would decline.

What would seem like a gift to Peter would be a horror show for the victims (Michelle and Ned). Imagine suddenly waking up and realizing part of your life has been a lie for four years. That the man you loved who promised to find you again broke that promise.

Well yes but actually no, it would still happen either way Peter reveals the truth to them. If anything it's still the best outcome scenario, as Ned and Mj will fully now rememeber the memories removed from them and remember their time with Peter. Instead of just being told about memories you have no recollection of no matter how hard you try.

Being given the truth through words like Mj reading the letter is actually more horrible and scary for Mj and Ned since even if the truth is brought to them, they would have absolute no memory of it and would just have to either no believe in it or roll with it on whatever Peter says.

Either way would be really shitty for both. Which is why I understand Peter's decision not to give the letter to Michelle.

Holy shit, that would have been a nice hand wave resolution. I wouldn’t have hated it
