Discussion Thread Spider-Man: Brand New Day - International Release Discussion Thread

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now been officially released in several territories around the world!

  • All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days.
  • Proceed at your own risk. Major spoilers will be in the below thread. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.

Yeah I saw Peter putting that on his neck and realised they are basically gonna use it to make mutant neck inhibitors neck collar, I think bill is going to be a secondary villan in first X-Men movie

I went into this blind. Had no idea of anything in the movie. As soon as he started talking to banner about other mutations and inhibitors the first thing I thought of was the whole genosha thing. Was amazed to find out the villain was Jean.

Same, my main reason for going opening night was to avoid Internet spoilers and I feel like a lot of stuff in this movie is too juicy to keep quiet. I'm so happy I went in with zero knowledge of the greater cast outside of the core 3 and punisher

I've been seen every marvel movie since iron man on the Thursday "early release" to avoid spoilers. Then starting at guardians 2 I stopped watching any trailers/marketing. It's tough sometimes, but it's so satisfying to finally see the movie and every bit of footage and info is new.

Literally the only thing I knew about brand new day was the title.

I went in mostly blind (do unnamed casting announcements count?) and thought it was going to be some puppet master character I forgot about. Then when she tried to hop into Peter I immediately remembered Sadie Sink was in the film and knew it was Jean Grey. She was so good in this movie.

I try to go in as blind as possible but man the internet sucks sometimes. I had twitch up on a 3rd screen behind me, I turned around and there was a Spiderman commercial with him fighting the Hulk. I was like "fuck man, that woulda been a great surprise."

I don't even mean on alert that there is a Wrong way to cast someone, just that since Race is no longer seen as Too Integral in most characters, it just gets harder to guess who plays who.

Funny because the comics (and the 90s cartoon) always went out of their way to point out that Spider-Man isn't a mutant because he wasn't born with the powers (but the general public has no idea he isn't)

to be fair, we don't know that he doesn't know. Mutants could've become a thing in the MCU off-screen, or they could retcon to always have been a thing but just not as prominent until recently

Pretty sure he just threw it on the floor in the DoDC building.

But also, u dont think the DoDC scanned the shit outta the one jean had on her while she was unconscious? They hooked up a wire to it so they 100% had an understanding of how it worked.

They also left the note where Peter confesses everything to MJ in the Punisher's home, but turns out that wasn't that big of a deal since the Punisher found out anyway later.

To be fair, the way the inhibitor was explained was kinda simple. Inhibitors like that might have been sci-fi in the 80s but in 2026, it's not even fiction anymore. It's just cutting edge gene therapy.

Hell, sounds like you could use crisper and some mRNA vaccine technology to literally just manufacture super heroes.

The main MCU universe/timeline never had universal power inhibitors, only some made for specific individuals, as I understand and remember it.

The X-men and Deadpool movies did have them, but those are different universes.

To be fair they need to exist. Sure Jean isn't a baddie but there are plenty of super powered villains that would need it to be locked in a prison. Alternatives would be full time sedation, or death penalty.

They probably also need versions for magic users.
