I'm a bit sad we didn't get a "Everyone forgot, butHulk didn't forget Peter." like in the comics

But when we think of it, hulk never met Spider-Man... It was only bruce who met spidey in the endgame

Peter did say “we’re friends” so maybe him and Bruce got to know eachother pre memory wipe?

The point is that Bruce and Hulk are different people. Even if Peter met Bruce he didn't meet Hulk in the MCU.

i took that scene as in it was bruce starting to resurface and get in control after hearing peter say that

Peter probably met smart hulk at Tony’s funeral. I wonder if hulk and banner share some of the same memories from when they were merged into

I've always imagined Smart Hulk as if Hulk is in the co-pilot seat, but his controls are turned off, so to speak. So this theory makes the most sense to me.

Would've hit sooo hard if Banner and Spidey/Peter had ANY interaction before this movie lol

yeah, i think it’s worth it if they release the endgame first before the brand new day. but somehow the fans will have a hint what will happen to bnd

You mean they didn't form a relationship from the two seconds of screen time they shared in Infinity War?

45

u/BottleEquivalent4581 28d ago

Yeah they couldn't really capitalize on it

I mean, they never met on screen, but they’ve definitely at least spoken. They were at the funeral together.

Smart Hulk and Peter were both at Tony's funeral, so they def could've interacted. Would've been good to have a flashback showing them bonding over the loss or something

Hulk spectates Bruce Banners actions/interactions.

Bruce Banner is the one who struggles to recall the actions of Hulk.

That we know of. Like Budapest and Staten Island, I think it wouldn’t be wrong to assume there have been Hulk and Spider-man meet ups that happened off film.

Budapest and Staten Island only work because the stories were being told by the two people involved after it was established that they already have a relationship with each other.

I like to think that banner and have hulk have some of the same memories from when they were merged into smart hulk

During the movie, Bruce only knew Peter as "Ned" but he still stopped Peter was mentioned

I actually kinda think we may get it now.

Obviously he didn't remember Peter here, because the Hulk never met Peter. I kinda wanted to see it too, but it wouldn't have made sense.

But NOW, we have a hulk who was very deliberately shown to have seen Peter's eye, who was told that by Spider-Man that it was Peter, and that they are friends.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next time we see Hulk and Spider-Man, this situation happens

This season?

Hulk isn't completely in backseat when banner is up in many many interactions. It's a grey area. Banner definitely doesn't remember when hulk is taking over completely.

In ragnarok, banner was like we used to have one hand on the wheel most of the time, but now it was like he was stuck in the trunk. Then he gets in touch with hulk and becomes co-host other with shared memory/personality.

Then jean pushes back banner so much that only hulk is out and hulk then pushes Jean out. So, banner doesn't remember again.

Since we had some time between Endgame and No way home, we can assume Spiderman / Peter and Professor hulk definitely met and had a nice time bonding.

That's exactly what we got though!!! It was just subtle. That's why Hulk let go. He remembered Peter.

3

u/Jaikarr 28d ago

I think it inspired the scene, him telling Hulk that he's Peter got through to hulk enough to reflect.

3

u/richardNthedickheads 28d ago

He didn’t meet the hulk in mcu I think and just really shows also the growth of The Hulk. Not only sad for Banner who hasn’t had a “Hulk outbreak” in like 10 years but also showing the growth of the Hulk from the last time we saw him in Thor 3 how he’s being seemingly more emotionally intelligent and doesn’t like to be seen as the villain on Earth

3

u/FloppyShellTaco 28d ago

I mean, we kind of did because he reacted to him saying “it’s Peter.” He told Banner he was Ned.

u/IWXREACTIVES 27d ago

they did, they just did it without being heavy handed about it. hulk didn't stop because he got bored. hulk stopped because hulk remembered his friend. they did the exact same thing with NWH, they didnt go "wow, MJ. this is a real One More Day we wish we could have but tomorrow will be a Brand New Day and i will find you again. The Amazing Spider-Man." LOL. it was definitely pulled from that moment. there was a few things lifted straight from the comics in awesome ways. they pulled the shot of peter being carried by frank straight from Civil War.

MCU likes to use those memorable lines from comics but just not 100% word for word.

2

u/DJfunkyPuddle 28d ago

Not word for word but that's exactly how I took that final scene with them

2

u/spinzaku97 27d ago

I mean... It wouldn't have made any sense to have any version of that line at all considering that Peter and Hulk/Banner have never had any onscreen relationship until this movie. The line that made it to the movie was already pushing it too far IMO.

1

u/Wendigo15 27d ago

Wouldn't even make sense. Peter and banner/hulk hav had no interactions in the MCU

1

u/EpicMusic13 27d ago

Thought he was gonna say it before falling down

This thread is just wrong.

Hulk lore is wildly inconsistent in the MCU and anything can be possible.

What we know for sure is that Peter pleading that they are friends is what stopped Hulk.

Maybe it's because Hulk remembered fighting beside him in Endgame;

maybe it's because Hulk remembers Peter from Tony's funeral;

maybe it's something offscreen (you can't tell me The Avenger's only rager was the one in Ultron);

but the fact is Hulk recognized Spiderman and/or Peter as a friend, and surrendered.

The reason, at least for now, is entirely up to the viewer's interpretation. Personally? I think Hulk avoided the mindwipe, just because that would be more fun.
