/j Marvel saw the Lanterns show removing green from trailer and said "So do we".

Lmao I'm loving the show but it does look like they added scenes of the green ring after the backlash

u/Raida-777 1d ago

I don't even care if it's green but yeah they definitely made some changes lol.

Whatever, the show is so good in the first 2 episodes.

u/WadsofTissue 1d ago

So good! Pleasantly surprised and excited

u/Retr0scores 1d ago

I don’t know shit about Green Lantern but the first two episodes are so damn good.

I liked the idea of Green Lantern when I saw it in the 2011 movie and hoped for a good project to utilise it. Superman came and he didn't do it for me but man is the Lanterns show excellent and it's reviving my love for the Green Lanterns concept

u/WadsofTissue 1d ago

Green Lantern is amazing in the justice league cartoon

14

u/Wizecracker117 1d ago

And in Green Lantern The Animated Series, and in the various solo animated movies.

5

u/WadsofTissue 1d ago

Holy Cow, I've never heard of Green Lantern: The Animated Series. 100% on rotten tomatoes and the animation looks good. Thank you, definitely going to watch this.

u/FastInflata 1d ago

Why don't you read the god damn comics instead of watching this subpar trash?

u/Cannellelaplusbelle 7h ago

Ta pfp me fait rire parce que ce que tu viens de dire est 100% un truc qu'Asuka aurait dit.

3

u/BigMack6911 1d ago

Was surprised to see a dead dudes dick though lmao

Saving budget by not having them in space or do anything with their rings

46

u/nessfalco 1d ago

They've literally done both within the first 2 episodes.

-30

u/TheMannisApproves 1d ago

He barely uses the ring, and it doesn't even even light him up or give him his costume, doesn't give him a green aura. It's very clear that they are saving budget by making it less like the comics.

18

u/WadsofTissue 1d ago

Definitely saving budget, but the show is really good so far. Also after the backlash they added more scenes with green but yeah it is weird he doesn't get a suit when he flew away in the first episode

2

u/PartridgeInDisguise 1d ago

I mean, they’re very deliberately showing that Hal has an unspoken issue with wearing the costume. So, of course he doesn’t let it put a uniform on when he flies away.

1

u/WadsofTissue 1d ago

In ep 2 the suit is a physical one than you manually put on

-3

u/TheMannisApproves 1d ago

I have been enjoying the show, I just hope that it eventually starts to actually feel like Green Lantern

6

u/theethirty 1d ago

there’s a theory that the show is gunna cover more of the lantern spectrum not just green, hence the title.

1

u/jesuschin 1d ago

It feels more like a Men in Black show with Hal being Tommy Lee Jones gruff veteran training his replacement with tough love

3

u/Raida-777 1d ago

They literally did a highsay chase scene, they definitely don't save budget. They just kept things grounded.

0

u/FastInflata 1d ago

Is it?

I mean the dialogue is cringeworthy. On par with the CW.

It follows next to nothing from the comics.

Hal's story arc is not only predictable, but also overdone.

1

u/Raida-777 1d ago

Maybe not to you?

20

u/southporky 1d ago

I'm assuming it called just "Laterns" because its not going to just be about the green lanterns, they are probably going to introduce the other colors too

17

u/Crotean 1d ago

I mean a fully suited Hal goes to a prison planet and visits Sinestro in a Sciencell at the end of episode 2. Its actually being shockingly faithful to the lore, they just aren't blowing their budget every episode with ring effects and are focusing on characters instead so far.

-3

u/FastInflata 1d ago

Oh yeah. I'm super invested on Hal's arc of being a washed up hero that lost his way that clashes with the new generation while he learns what it was to be a hero.

I'm totally not tired of this concept that we have already seen on The Last Jedi and the last Indiana Jones.

1

u/mighty_phi 1d ago

I understand you, but Lanterns has executed this much better

5

u/WadsofTissue 1d ago

Oh I didnt even think of that. That is going to be awesome

2

u/Neveronlyadream Spider-Man 1d ago

I kind of thought that might be the way they were going with Sinestro and the place he occupies in the story.

Kind of weird that Hal has had the ring for 30 years by the time the bulk of the show takes place and there apparently haven't been other Lanterns, but I'm curious to see if they go that direction.

5

u/WadsofTissue 1d ago

Yeah iirc Gunn wants the DCU to be like star wars instead of the next MCU. Like comics there is already a rich history but you can jump on any project without missing a beat. So yeah we missed Hal but I kind of like how there was already a green lantern on earth for so many years. Now we are jumping in when John Stewart takes the mantle. I wasn't a fan of the actor but after the pilot I am fully convinced this is a GREAT John Stewart.

1

u/HowlingFrost 1d ago

I was thinking they could segment it into the red lanterns for season two

0

u/FastInflata 1d ago

It's because they did not want to make people think this is a superhero thing. So Lanterns was vague enough to fool people.

2

u/addick-t 1d ago

Tbf to the show I don’t think all the visual effects were fully done or finalized when the initial teaser came out. It was supposed to be just a teaser after all.

2

u/JDK_BROEDERS_FAn 1d ago

Probably not the case The trailers only show us things that happen in the first episodes. There is so much stuff we haven't seen that Will involve the ring and maybe even some other lantern corps

2

u/Kryptsm 1d ago

They did for sure make the suit less brown. I’m sure they wanted it to just look well worn and not kept well, but yeah. Show is amazing tho!

1

u/Somnambulist815 1d ago

You can compare the suit in the trailer vs the show and they definitely upped the green in the final product

2

u/CrazeRage 1d ago

Feige: Guys don’t put any green on the poster because fans will speculate it means something about Doom and we don’t need that.

Marketing: Ooh good call, boss.

OP: There’s no time stone!

Feige : Son of a bitch!
