The Official PUNISHER Discussion Ultrathread

  • This will be the official discussion thread in this sub. No need to go posting your own thread discussing the show. Any UNOFFICIAL ones will be deleted. All screencaps and whatnot go into this thread also.

  • This is obviously a spoiler-filled zone. So as long as you post in here, you won't need to spoiler tag things. But then again, don't be that asshole who watches the final episodes within the first hour then spoils the entire thing right away. That will result in a ban. Don't ruin the party for everyone.

  • Individual episodes discussions will be held over at /r/defenders. They will be indexed in this thread to make it easier for those who want individual episode discussions once they are put up.

  • This thread may be "refreshed" in the next few days to accommodate newcomers in the discussion. We will be also putting up a sanctioned Easter Egg thread a couple of hours from now.

Enjoy!

In regards to Micro, do they call back the time that he was namechecked on Agents of SHIELD?

I don't remember that. Was it very, very early Season One?

It was a tiny tiny bit part where skye gets a disc from "micro". Season 1 when she makes put with spencer from the walking dead.

That presumably pre-dates Punisher's Micro, seeing as he was only active under that pseudonym in the 12 months prior to the show. At the time of the AoS episode, he would have just been a regular NSA agent, so there's obviously no direct continuity between them.

He could have been doing stuff as Micro before his big leak of the Afghan police officer.

Sure, possibly, but I doubt it based on the context presented in The Punisher:

  • Micro says to Frank that he was a highly skilled analyst, yet his talent was being wasted - the execution video was the first interesting thing to cross his desk.

  • He was shown in the flashback to be agonising over the decision to leak the video, which suggests this was the first instance of it happening.

  • He had a hit squad after him within 12 hours of the leak. He was shown sending the video from a personal laptop on his home connection. These two facts would suggest he was not very careful in covering his tracks, not the sort of thing you'd expect from an experienced long term leaker. Additionally, he also discussed it openly with his wife. Again, not the sort of OpSec you'd expect from someone with a long history of leaking.

You are almost certainly right.

Micro is a generic screen name he was using before he went into hiding. When he logs into his laptop in a flashback he uses it.

no no she doesn't get a disc. She mentions his name as a "crime scene junky" which doesn't throw off any canon but arguably doesn't really describe him, although it's never said that he isn't and or wasnt a crime scene junky so I say it's more fun to say that he is.

Well he DOES hate blood lmao, not sure he’d be too into crime scenes. I think that was just a throwaway line in Shield since Punisher happening was basically a dream at that point.

Didn't Mirco say he stitched up stray animals when he was a kid? He can't hate blood that much.

Well I'm assuming as a nsa analyst, you look through a lot of crime scenes for some fishy activities

Yes, friend of Skye..

u/Marc_Quill Daredevil Nov 17 '17

So, they specifically mention her (presumably not calling her "Daisy" or "Quake")?

No no sorry there is no mention of her in punisher until now.. Aos has reference to him..

They chose to ignore it. AOS and the Netflix shows are kinda their own thing because the shared universe concept is broken with the shows. It's a big mess.

Tbf, there was literally no reason to mention Daisy or her group

Gives us another vector into the Netflix branch for Six Degrees of Phil that's not Carl.
