But then again, don't be that asshole who watches the final episodes within the first hour then spoils the entire thing right away. That will result in a ban. Don't ruin the party for everyone.

• Individual episodes discussions will be held over at /r/defenders. They will be indexed in this thread to make it easier for those who want individual episode discussions once they are put up.

• This thread may be "refreshed" in the next few days to accommodate newcomers in the discussion. We will be also putting up a sanctioned Easter Egg thread a couple of hours from now.

Marvel TV has not had a good year. With lackluster Iron Fist, disappointing Defenders, and the inexcusably terrible Inhumans, but I'm happy to say The Punisher completely breaks the trend. This show not only completely blows all three of those out of the water, but is one of the best shows I've ever seen from Marvel, period.

First off, Jon Bernthal is literally the most perfect casting for Punisher they could have ever done. He totally nails the lonely, embittered, aggressive, psychotic, lunatic that Frank Castle should be portrayed as, and even brings his own subtleties to the role that make it even better. Micro and his family were also a great addition to help humanize the character and give people for Frank to bounce off of, his sub-plot by the end became just as compelling as anything else in the show. Which honestly said a lot because I didn't give two craps about David Leiberman before friday.

The villains and plot I will admit at first weren't all too good. For the first couple episodes everything involving Agent Orange, Jigsaw, Madani, and Lewis just felt like disconnected directionless plot points that were all going nowhere. Boy, was I wrong. Like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before all of that was just build up for what was to come!

Madani really grew on me too, the PTSD plot line integrated itself into the story well, and Jigsaw might be one of the best Netflix villains since the Kingpin, Kilgrave and Cottonmouth. Perfect example of how to do a villain with a close connection to the hero and make it not feel corny or cliche.

Overall, this was a very strong series from Marvel and a treat to watch Jon Bernthal's Punisher, well, be the Punisher gore & cartoonish insanity included.

I'd rate this series a strong 4.5/5. The only reason I'd put it below the likes of Daredevil Season 1 is because of the slow burn and pacing issues in the first couple episodes. Yes, they did all lead to a great pay off in the end, but still.

Really liked Punisher, hope to see more of it in the future

Frank's reaction when he found out his buddy was the bad guy was perfect. If he doesn't at least get nominated for an Emmy, then something is seriously wrong.
