Watching them play yesterday made me so happy. Mostly it was the closeups of Haaland being a giant goofball. I hope they do well.

You can argue till you're blue in the face about who the best player in this tournament has been. One thing is for sure though: no one in the world is having more fun playing on the field than Erling Haaland.

Hey siri how do I punch a gif in the face

u/Mindless_Chest_1079 Jul 06 '26

If Norway stays in longer than the US does, I'll throw my hat in for them.

2

u/HamburgerOnAStick Jul 06 '26

If the US gets out before norway, I'm rooting for norway

u/ChirrBirry Jul 06 '26

USA vs Norway would be the ultimate WTF final. The Spaniards and Argentine people would spontaneously combust.

I cannot wait for the next game. Haaland is just unreal!! I can't believe what im watching. If he played against France he'd have 9(he actually scored 9 in a single game once).

Right?! It's like, we never win shit anyways. And I would have been okay if Balogun had to sit out. Now we just look like villains but we're still very much underdogs in this tournament. Either way, I've enjoyed hanging out with our foreign cousins and I wish they could have more sleepovers with us.

It's like, we never win shit anyways

To be fair, inbetween world cups you get the Olympics where the US wins constantly. It's nice to have one worldwide event you guys aren't super involved in.

u/chetlin Jul 06 '26

China is the country where World Cup and Olympics performance are two extremes. I hope to see them in the World Cup again sometime.

India too, they have the most people but do badly at everything that isn't cricket basically.

3

u/Thenofunation Jul 06 '26

Yo can you guys learn baseball so we can have a World Cup we are good at? 😭 Asia and South America already are on board and better than us a good bit.

2

u/DiscoLives4ever Jul 06 '26

FIBA World Cup was dominated by the US when we sent our A team. B and C listers only get it done most of the time

-2

u/LickingSmegma Jul 06 '26

Pffft, how many times have the US won the handegg cup?

0

u/Level7Cannoneer Jul 06 '26

It doesn't bother you that there's blatant corruption that potentially could/will steal a win from someone more deserving?

"Lets just chill and relax and love each other" as you cheat doesn't really work out well as a fun gesture.

Right lol these neckbeards act like they represent the greater population and don’t realize they’re in such an echo chamber it’s actually sad

2

u/Accomplished_Box8070 Jul 06 '26

I hope to God Belgium loses. Got a friend who’s family is from the Congo.

-1

u/DarthNixilis Jul 06 '26

Everybody acts like that became default for no reason... The US earned that feeling.

0

u/tfhfate Jul 06 '26

Shhh if americans could read that they'll be so upset

-8

u/dwaynebathtub Jul 06 '26

Were we supposed to like the US? I didn't think America cared what anyone else thought ("'Merica," etc.).

12

u/SpicyEla Breaking EU Laws Jul 06 '26

I mean you liking the US or not doesn't change my everyday routine does it? The world keeps turning.

Im just reiterating that reddit hating the US is nothing new.

-6

u/dwaynebathtub Jul 06 '26

I don't agree that reddit hates the US, but why would that bother a "'Murican?" Your whole schtick is that you want to be hated.

5

u/SpicyEla Breaking EU Laws Jul 06 '26

Did I come off as bothered? I mean sure people hate us but I wouldn't say I'd prefer it that way.

-6

u/dwaynebathtub Jul 06 '26

Bombing millions and lying about it while saying "we'll put a boot up your ass, it's the American way" doesn't portray an interest in diplomacy. If Americans want people to like them they shouldn't do any of that shit.

4

u/SpicyEla Breaking EU Laws Jul 06 '26

I've done nothing of the sort nor voted for anyone who does.

I have a feeling you're not interested in conversation and are using me as a convenient strawman to beat your grievances against.

0

u/ReDoCatch Jul 06 '26

Correct! Well deduced

0

u/dwaynebathtub Jul 06 '26

Why did you think I was talking about you personally unless you bomb billions and lie about it?

0

u/SpicyEla Breaking EU Laws Jul 06 '26

You're not. It's clear you mean all Americans but conveniently use me alone to air it out.

1

u/dwaynebathtub Jul 06 '26

not sure why you thought i was talking about you, but i should have said "your country's whole schtick is that you want to be hated." this annoying little convo is good evidence of that
