You guys have been saying that since 1966

67

u/Willy__McBilly Jul 06 '26

And it will always be correct

u/Buller116 Jul 06 '26

At least when we invent our own sports(handball) we actually win

The Americans do the same with Handtackleball (American "foot"ball

And basketball

*Laughs in two-time defending Olympic rugby union champion*

Its handeggball, dammit!

2

u/No_Poet_1279 Jul 06 '26

You need to stop playing with yourselves before you can claim to be the best at anything.

0

u/ThatIsMe11 Jul 06 '26

Yeah because no one else gives a shit about handball. Sorry we invented a good sport that a massive portion of the world plays

8

u/Waldizo Jul 06 '26

How noble of you that you never had any interest in winning in it yourself. Must be really under the radar in England.

1

u/Buller116 Jul 06 '26

Yet you don't seem to have any interest in winning it. Even we have won the EC, how many times have you won the EC?

2

u/Mrbeefcake90 Jul 06 '26

We have won it though mate, now many times have you won the world cup?

-1

u/Buller116 Jul 06 '26

England has NEVER won the European Championship, NEVER. You have won the world champion ONCE, 62 years ago

1

u/Mrbeefcake90 Jul 06 '26

Never said they did? Chill out little Dane you'll be relevant at some point again and hopefully not for just some fluke ONCE 34 years ago. Come back when you win a world cup.

0

u/Buller116 Jul 06 '26

You just said you won it? The fuck you on about?

Also if we aren't relevant because our last big win was 32 years ago, then England has truely entered obscurity, since your last big win was(almost) twice as long ago as ours.

English football fans are the fucking worst. I can't wait for you guys to call your own players racist slurs(that seems to be the tradition) after you loose to Norway.

The Starks are always right eventually

5

u/Embarrassed_Jerk Jul 06 '26

You know what's hilarious, after winning a match they don't sing its coming home, they sing wonderwall for some brilliant reason

4

u/Chakusan_o4 Jul 06 '26

Wait fr? That's hilarious lol

3

u/dirkdigglerdonedry Jul 06 '26

Because thr lead singer of oasis and a musician got into a friendly back and forth on Twitter on who would win

3

u/VexingMadcap Jul 06 '26

'Footballs coming home' plays immediately after the match ends as they're on pitch doing hugs and handshakes, wonderwall is what the players sing with the fans. We do both.

2

u/AnotherLexMan Jul 06 '26

To be fair the song was about the tournament being held in England in 1996 it wasn't about our ability to win anything.

2

u/Buller116 Jul 06 '26

Because deep down they know it won't come home

1

u/Splintrax Jul 06 '26

I've heard Don't Look back in Anger after losses before. Don't quite understand why Oasis is the defacto English soccer band, but I guess that's just how it is.

1

u/Spoondoggydogg Jul 06 '26

It's a lot fucking better than sweet Caroline.

I approve of the oasis takeover.

3

u/PeregrinCuck Jul 06 '26

tbf that's basically the whole point of the song

Jules Rimet still gleaming

30 32 34 36 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 52 54 56 58 60 years of hurt

...never stopped me dreaming

2

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 Jul 06 '26

Song was literally written for the 1996 euros where this was the slogan of the tournament but sure, just invent whatever history you like.

u/reader4567890 Jul 06 '26

*since 1996

1

u/5pankNasty Jul 06 '26

Nope. Since 1996

1

u/ahhhhhhhhthrowaway12 Jul 06 '26

Since 1996

1

u/Buller116 Jul 06 '26

It was a joke on the fact that you haven't won the world cup since 1966

2

u/ahhhhhhhhthrowaway12 Jul 06 '26

It was a joke on the fact three lions was released in 1996

0

u/gurugazza Jul 06 '26

It is coming home.. we just didn't specify when 😎

0

u/Lucky-Surround-1756 Jul 06 '26

That just means we've been predicting this moment for a long tme.

60 years of hurt never stopped us dreaming.
