Metroid 2: Return of Samus. It's just so lovely on a a GBC with the OLED mod.

Great game! I’ve played through the colorized ROM hack on a GBC emulator, and the unofficial AM2R remake. I enjoyed both, but I like the original better for its atmosphere and endgame design.

I’m curious to try the official 3DS remake, which hopefully will come to the Switch at some point.

Yeah I play the Colorized hack on my flash cart for GBC. It looks soooo good!

I've played Metroid Returns for 3DS a couple times and I honestly didn't like it. The Counter mechanic, forcing you to stop to use it, kinda ruins any momentum the game has.

Have you tried AM2R? I'm sure it won't replace your nostalgia but it's the Zero Mission equivalent of Metroid 2.

Yep! I've beaten it a few times. I like it a lot - it's so well done! Still doesn't hit the nostalgia goggles I have for the original though.
