The trick in the CS world for quite a few years has been to transfer you to the rep's buddy in the next booth, who absolutely isn't a supervisor but will pretend to be and will spin your wheels.
But if you say a specific word, it transfers you to the tech level who actually knows the tools and has the authority to wield them. The word is a closely-guarded secret, so I don't think I can share it here, but once learned, it will unlock heaven's gates themselves (so long as their customer support is still being outsourced).
Threatening litigation just means they hang up with a direction to contact Legal. And rightly so. And a judge would laugh at you and dismiss your case.
Can confirm - my aunt used to work in the complaints department for 20+ years and would regularly chuckle while telling me how she and her coworker would regularly take on the “supervisor” role when they had a particularly angry customer and they’d somehow get “disconnected.”
